Looking for a trailer for my Viper. Type, manufacturer, size, features, cost, etc. Any recommendations? Anyone have one for sale?

I want one too. I'm looking for an open one with a shield. I'm not too concerned with the brand or quality because it will only see action once or twice a year.

Check out www.hhtrailers.com

They sponsored the site for awhile and built a trick stainless steel , electric tilt trailer for Vipers, Hot Rodders, etc. They have been shown alot recently in many of the car magazines, and they are also huge in the Bike World - done trailers for Jesse James, Russ Mitchell ( Exile Cycles ), and others. The big plus for the enclosed trailer is their patented system that repels dust and moisture inside. Their trailers also offer new age technology with no rivets.

You might try Rod Rance who owns Rance Aluminum Trailers in Elkhart Indiana. 574-295-5658.
He is a Viper owner.
Rod just built fellow Viper owners, Ray Sweers and Dean Loucks new aluminum trailers to haul their Vipers.
His trailers are high quality at reasonable prices. :2tu:

Thanks Bill, very nice set up. Do you know of anyone owning this trailer in southern California? I'd like to see one.

I went with the Sloan Kwik Load Trailer. It's a roll-back trailer (meaning the bed tilts back so you drive onto it without having to use ramps) and the angle is low enough that the front end doesn't touch the bed. It's very light weight (if you go with the aluminum bed option) and a Roles Royce of a trailer. I'm very happy with it.

More information can be found here:

How long are these trailers you guys are getting, 16, 17 or 18 feet? I'm leaning towards and open trailer. I have a local Featherlite dealer I'm going to visit on Saturday. An air dam would also be nice and some storage for tools / tires. I have a winch so a place to mount one would be nice too. By the way, does anyone sell a "tow hook" for the SRT-10 similar to the GTS style? Also, electric brakes are required in CA, so gotta have those.

I'll probably just take the car to Viper events on the trailer. After last weekend, traveling in an SRT-10 with clothes and helmets for two is very, very tight. Then you need a place to put these items while you're on the track.

A trailer is coming soon.

Viper X,
Good qq. What does the "X" mean? J/K :D

Above F'lite 17" x8'6"

Air dam and winches available.

Jon Brobst @ PartsRack has front-mount tow hooks, q.v.

Elec. brakes std. on Featherlite. Must have Dodge Diesel to purchase Featherlite. Failing that, consider Exiss, which makes an honorable alternative option for most second-choice tow vehicles.

TD

Hey Sleeper,

License plate = Viper X.

Do you mean 17' (feet). Is that long enough to store some tires, tools, etc. Is the internal, lockable storage? If so, how large?

Definitely want the air dam. Have the winch.

Emailed Jon today for pics. None yet

Tow vehicle is F-250 Super Duty. May be a Dodge one day.

Thanks,

DJ

DJ,
Yes, I meant 17 feet. That was the longest Featherlite available when I purchased last summer (they also made a smaller, 14 foot version).
I have also wondered about the possibility of adding a tire rack. I think you can see from the picture I posted above that there is not much room for a tool box in front of the car, although I may be wrong. In this regard, an 18 foot trailer would be better.
No problems (so far) with rock chips or insects, notwithstanding the absence of a front air dam. Car arrives at the destination nice and clean.
There is no internal lockable storage, to answer your other question.
I chose the Featherlite for its quality and also because I thought the aluminum would look good with my silver truck and car. Good luck with your purchase.

Here is an H&H enclosed. Very easy to load by yourself and you do not have to worry about your car if you are parked in a hotel lot overnight. Pulls great - 20ft. Sorry about the landscaping, sod had not been put down yet for the new viper pit.

LittleFish,

Wish your pictures wouldn't have come up - now I'm jealous!

Really, that looks great, plus you have some storage space.

I would prefer enclosed like yours, just no place to keep it until new house is built.

You obviously copied my MGW liscence frame.

Sleeper, I still can't understand why in the hell you have to have a Dodge to get a Featherlite.

C-man, you bump your head against one too many ladies headboards lately? :D

I think he was JOKING - that is the best tow rig combination when hauling a VIPER and anything else is "lesser".... get it?

Gary Almond is looking into getting a 2 car trailer so you might ask to see what he wants for it.

I second the featherlite recommendation. They are 17'6" long for 03 and 04. you can get a lockable (aftermarket) box that sits on the tounge and is great for tools. thing weighs in at like 1200lb empty. very easy to tow with. I love it. they list price for ~4500 but can be had for ~4100 new or even less on e-bay somtimes.
