Transmission Fluid Leak?

Some of you here know that I had been having an odd oil leak in my 03 for a couple years. Had the cooler lines replaced previously and it wasn't them. Pretty sure it was the oil pan gasket, so Mopar Steve and I replaced that in his garage last February. That seem to solve the matter.

Recently, I notice some oil again on the bottom of the oil pan, but it wasn't accumulating the same place as before, this time, it seems more towards the rear of the pan. I found it because I was actually checking to see if there was anything where the previous seepage was, and I ran my hand along the pan. Went down to Steve's house last week, we put the car on his lift, and look around. Really hard to tell, and looks like there might be some seepage back at the rear of the pan near the transmission. Steve said to me "live with it". It's tiny, and nothing drips on the ground (yet?) there are no spots in my garage.

Still, I'm anal! My dealer replaced my transmission fluid 3 months ago in May at my annual service (my request, car has 32,000 miles on it). As far as I know the underneath had been dry until then (can't be certain though). Is it possible that they overfilled the fluid, and it's coming out through a gasket? Or is there something else going on?

Car runs like a top, by the way. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks,

Here's where I'm seeing it at the back of the pan, on the bolt that holds on (I think?) the transmission housing cover:

That isn't a typical place for a trans fluid leak..............

thats next to the inspection plate which is where the flywheel is. could be rear main seal or clutch fluid.

rear main seals are a ***** to do and there are no tools for getting the seal in. the centring tool is useless.

Thank you. Tell me more if it is clutch fluid? What could be a possible cause ? I always thought (wrongly?) that a slave cylinder leak was at the front left area. Any insight appreciated, thanks folks.

If rear main, I think I'll live with it.

It is not clutch fluid. It is oil. Tha amount of the oil drip is less than the tears Scott is shedding over this leak. LOL! It is actually a very small drip, and only after quite a while and not enough to make a drip on the floor. I sealed the corners correctly when the pan gasket was changed and everything is correctly sealed. I do not see any signs of porocity of the metal. Everything was very clean and dry when we were done last time. I honestly have no idea now What could be causing it. Before changing the pan gasket there was significant oil leakage (small but worthy of a repair) but this is now at a different location and not symptomatic of the same issue.

What brand pan gasket did you use? A small leak like this will blow back near the rear main seal so don't worry too much yet. I had a similar tiny leak and replaced the pan gasket with a Flex-Pro (IMO its a way better quality than OEM)

We used an OEM gasket. As Steve said above, it's not that. This leak is in a diferent spot.

Steve is correct, I'm WAY too anal! And he knows more about these cars than most Viper techs.

We used an OEM gasket. As Steve said above, it's not that. This leak is in a diferent spot.

Ok but your pic shows the leak I had in the exact spot....I was convinced it was the read main seal. Inside the clutch cover showed oil leakage but it's 100% dry now after replacing the oem pan gasket. (2 years ago)

I agree with you> one drop is too much!

Interesting. So you replaced your original gasket with another OEM, and then continued with the issue? Or you went right from the OEM to the Fel Pro? As Steve said, where my original leak was at the front of the pan. I wish "anal" wasn't my middle name....

I replaced the oem gasket with the Fel Pro. Side by side the Fel-pro is outstanding being thicker and more surface sealing area in those hard to seal spots.
