I'm looking for help from anyone who has driven/riden in both a GTS and an ACR. I've been looking for an '01 or '02 (non-ACR)GTS and have noticed some pretty good prices on the ACR models. My question is, How much of a ride difference does the stiffer suspension in the ACR have? Can the ACR suspension be softened so it's comparable to the non-ACR? I really like the wheels on the ACR but would prefer a softer ride and I probably won't be spending much time on the track and it won't be an everyday driver. Are there other differences I should consider in making my choice? Thanks for your opinions/experiences.

1999 -2000.4 ACR's are the one's to have. I have driven a 97 RT/10, a 2000 RT/10, a 97 GTS and my current 00.4 ACR.

My ACR hands down is my favorite ride. I LIKE a very tight suspension. The other vipers felt "mushie" compaired to my 2000.4 ACR.

I don't know what the 2000.5 - 2002 ACR's ride like. I have read a lot of people who do not like the non-koni's and tighter rear springs on them.

Seems like the older the Viper, the less $ premium that remains in the price for an ACR over non-ACR.

Also, wouldn't hurt to do a search of older postings. Type in: "ACR rattle".

Like said above, if you're planning on racing it at all, go with the ACR. You mentioned liking the wheels (they are great looking wheels) be prepared to spend a ridiculous amount of time cleaning them (I'm too lazy to do that and now mine are destroyed)

FWIW,
There is a brand new solid yellow acr here in Seaside,CA(area code 831) at Wester Dodge.
I believe it's a 2001 model. Been on showroom floor quite a while.

I have owned both and I can I assure you ACR is hands down my favorite. Why own a common GTS when you can have the exclusivity of the ACR. As for the wheels, Mothers makes great " spray on and wash off " cleaners that makes them very easy to maintain.

I've never had any luck with spray on hose off products (mine don't even come clean with soapy water and a wheel brush) but I will try Mothers' product.
