I think I understand and have had the same issue as you. I picked up a 99 with aftermarket wheels and replaced his 9-11 year old tires with new, but didn't realize that previous owner messed up and they should be staggered in height as well. As an example, a 99's oem sizes are front: 275/35R18 and rear: 335/30R18. I have 285/35/18 and run 335/30/18 rears. The issue is they are the same height and thus the rear looks small in comparison and the rake is gone. (pic attached)
In a perfect world I'd have 345/30/18 or 335/35/18, but the only option for sale I've seen above a 335/30/18 is a 345/35/18 drag radial, and while it can look great lowered, I don't want that much meat or drag radials for the street.
I recommend using tiresizedotcom's tire calculator to figure out the height differences before you buy. Ultimately I ended up ordering a custom vt forged 19" set arriving in May, and will go with 295/30, 355/30 sizes closer to how the gen 5's setups are, but with my front still taller. This will allow me to go lower on the coilovers and shave the gap between the tire and top of fender becoming visually lower, but with the car overall still sitting higher than oem sizes.
