By that I mean, the great feeling you get when you have a Viper problem then find the situation/fix online in the forum...what a relief it is.

One week before Mopar Nationals here in central Ohio and I somehow get the ALARM light on the Gen1. First flashing but car running after it started. Got home, then it does restart but he light is solid now. Alarm system scares the hell outta me and it's nothing but a hassle. Wish I could just disable it completely somehow easily. Anyhow, found the post about the car being in maintenance mode or something. 20 re-starts and it should hopefully go away. 6 down, 14 to go by weeks end ;)

So this is your alarm system and not your check engine light?

Make sure and re-sync the fob with the car. see if that helps. As you stand next to the car, hold both the on and off switches until the car alarm chips or blinks. Your alarm light should go away.

Yeah, it's the Alarm Set light. I'm one of those fortunate people who have a moody alarm system. FOB and disarming don't really work well. I avoid the alarm system at all costs. Sooner or later I'll have to deal with again when the battery needs replaced. I think last time I somehow found the reset lock-out trick somewhere and used that to save my bacon.

For this particular problem, I'm hoping it's this.

Again though, if anyone knows of any easy way to just disable the alarm system all together - I'd love to. Does nothing by cause worry.
