I'm selling my '00 RT/10 and for goofs I went to the Carfax site to check my vin (1B3ER65E8YV603104), well *** in red letters it said 6 records found in our database , pay $19.95 and we'll tell you about them. Now the car is primo with no history what could these 6 things be??????? Anyone have experience with Carfax?

It has been a few months since I ran any, but the records are normally just registration , type of registration etc etc....maybe someone here will run it for you...ask nicely and I bet you score...don't sweat it(Carfax) at all....good luck

For anyone else interested the records Carfax lists are usually just stuff like "Lien Issued" and "Registration Renewals" stuff like that. The red letters are a marketing ploy to get you to buy the report....just in case.

If you know your car is clean don't sweat it, even cars on the showroom floor have records with Carfax...

Thank you Doug, I got your email of the Carfax. It's all good, the 6 records are just explainig everything is clean. They make it sound like there is a problem, you guys are right it's a marketing ploy to get you to part with $20.

I wouldn't classify Carfax as a fluke company. I gladly paid $20 for UNLIMITED Carfax checks. I did it to check on Vipers that I was looking at for purchase.

So, I agree with the others... invaluable service to check out cars you are unsure of, but if you know yours is clean... not necessary.

carfax is not foolproof in telling you the complete history of a car.just one example ,when i had bought a new ram air t/a convertible in 2000 i backed up into my neighbors car and put a 3 inch hole in the rear valance of the t/a.well i paid cash to fix it in order to avoid the insurane nightmare.my bodyshop put a new rear valance on and painted it to look new.the vin was never put in a computer about the ordeal so carfax has no knowledge of it.when i ended up getting rid of the car i disclosed to the dealer about the rear valance.
im just saying ill bet what i did goes on alot except the part about disclosing in the end.

I checked it for my 93 Lightning which I put in a claim for 8K $ in 1998 & it DID NOT show up.
For what its worth.
