Over the years even before I owned a Viper, I always wondered why there was a all Corvette, Mustang, even 57 chev calendars, but never a Viper only!:(

Then I got a Viper, joined the VCA, and was shocked that there was no Viper specific calendar even for the VCA!:omg:

So I ask, with a club like the VCA, we have no shortage of Vipers, what needs to be done to get one done? Do we have any calendar manufacturers here? I guarantee they will sell!

And as I see this coming:rolleyes: yes, maybe we will need to consider two calendar editions: the VCA edition, and the Chad edition!:D:rolaugh:

Anyone else interested?

The "Chad" edition has been talked about and seemed to have very positive response from a lot of people...except the ones who count :( We were going to use proceeds for charity, the VCA, whatever, but it keeps falling on deaf ears :dunno::crazy2:

Hello all, I also was wondering about a calendar. There are some up front cost involved as well as time. I know a little about this as I am a photographer for a motorcycle mag. here in Western NY. I have my own buisness doing this type of work, contacts to print the calendars and so forth. Time involved for all, the car owners, models, location for the shoot, weather conditions on the day of the shoot. Rescheduling if bad weather on that day, then can everyone make it on the new day of the shoot! There are some ways around this, but some control of the quality of the photos and finished product come into play. Well what do we think! Should we try to make this work or not!
I am in and I can help if we do want to do this! That is if you want my help! I would like an all Viper calendar. I could put one together right now if you all want a 12 month calendar of my stock SSG coupe.
Only kidding!

No new photoshoot needed. If you run a search you'll find tons of excellent Hires pics of Vipers on this site, HUNDREDS. We have all colors, modded and stock, strip, highway, beach, etc. etc. Anyone doing a calendar could pic the pics from the site, PM for permission for useage and large file pics to use (I've got a thousand or so).

We also have a couple hundred page thread (members only) that has babes and Vipers. It would be sooooo easy to collect the pics for a 18 page Calendar. Maybe Mark G would sell them out of Viper Magazine? I'll take 1 of each. Unless my car's in there - then I'll take a bunch for distribution.

I bet Vendors like Jonb/partsrack, Roe Racing, Viper Specialties, etc. would all be interested in purchasing for resale and/or sponsoring the Calendars as well.

Use 1 car from each Zone and make dozens of Calendars. Donate $1 from each Calendar sold to the VCA and sell them through the club's individual zones?

Sounds like a winner!

History shows that the VCA (KC?) did a calendar, I think from AVTAR photos here, a while back! Could be an easy resurrect...

BJ motors did a calendar...bikinis? Dimitrious (and his Gladiators) did one?

Viper Days does a calendar, which PartsRack has indeed helped sponsor

Currently, NORCAL VCA has a GREAT 18-mos calendar available, which we also help sponsor....

Ill bet TOM ROELLER could do a GREAT one!

Ted, you have some good Ideas but some issues on quality control need to be addressed to make a saleable quality product. I know there are pic on this site, possibly those intrested could submit pic and choose from the willing participants. Like I said there are options out there!

Viperclub.org Calendar Project

I vote that we poll Chris and get this project restarted. It even looks like my car back in '02 with stock wheels in one shot. Post a pic of your Viper, then order your own custom calendar with your greatest choice of cars! Cool. Ummm, it's 2002 though. Only Gen 1 and 2s avail., lol.

At the bottom of the thread page there is links to many more Calendar threads.

Bring back from the DEAD, project anyone???

Right on! Glad I am not not the only one who wants on!:D

I think for the first one, lets skip the photo shoot. Maybe down the road in a few years we can do that, but for now I am sure there is enough high res pics floating around that we could get 14 photos to use!

The way I am picturing the car layout would be as follows: 12 months, 1 center spread (2 page), 1 cover= 14 pictures:

2-1st gens
2-2nd gens
2-3rd gens
2-4th gens
2-comp coups
2-GTS-R race photos
(Did I cover eveyone:confused:)

That leaves 2 photos: cover and center spread. Maybe center can be a group shoot (think VOI type of pic) and a great cover shot. Whatever is done, they need to be very nice shots so that if someone wants to frame a certain photo, they could do so at the end of the year.

That leaves only 2 things left. We need someone who is skilled at sorting good photos from bad, and a printer. As for those last two, JR Thompson could do that. They do both printing, and Viper magazine. They will not be biased (meaning we will not have only 2nd gen pics of yellow ACR's:D:rolaugh:). They can also accept orders and they already have a distribution network. Also, they can work with any potential trade mark issues that could come up as they are already licensed to use them!

Any thoughts? Someone have a better idea? Something to add to the calander? Should we be doing a 13 month instead of 12 (that would be adding January of the folling year)? Should the Chad edition be done at the same time and then be sold as a calander set(I want both:naughty:!)? Do my above ideas stink? Do you want me to call JRT? Let's here it!

Either way, I will not less this subject die until we have a VCA calander!:2tu:

OK. I am done now!:soapy::rant:

GREAT ideas Robert~! Maybe also include the VOI edition Vipers as the center 2-page picture? You pretty much hit everything on the head~! Included everyone's Viper...Cover pic could be pics of a GROUP of all gens together? OR if all agreed, one of the ACR's from 2008? Not sure how you'd get JRT involved though...certainly can't hurt to make a phone call, right? GO FOR IT!!! Totally supportive of your ideas...and thank you for them! ~juli

Lets build on that. If we had enough $$ to collectively buy a Viper, how could we all drive it? What if we then raffled it off to VCA members and donated any profits to the VCA and if enough tickets weren't sold, it becomes a 50/50 raffle? Maybe we should stick to the original topic first, the Viper calendar. ;)

THERE ya go~!! GOOD idea Dad~~~;) ~juli

Dad had a idea, maybe if we sell enough calendars, we could collectivly buy Viper from Chrysler.... :D

"buy Viper from Chrysler". ALL Vipers, not 'A' Viper.

2-1st gens
2-2nd gens

2-4th gens

Only 1 GTS in the entire Calendar??? Nonono. The GTS is the model built and designed for ass kickin' and the most famous of all the Vipers. As a minimium we'd need to have an R/T10, a GTS, an ACR, a GTSR and a comp coupe. for Gen 2s. Perhaps we could cut back on the Gen 1 with just the original? And we could get buy with just 1 Gen 3, 1 coupe and a new ACR?

I bought a VCA poster on my way home form VOI. It has 4 gen 2s on it with the VCA logo on the windhshield of the front B/w GTS. We could use soemthing like that for the center.

Yah, I'm biased ... and proud of it.

I admit to ALMOST being one of the "Viper production ended in 2002" people - but not quite. I do understand the benefits of a vette looking front end, side scoops etc. The cost, aerodynamics both improved immensely ... It just doesn't look the same, and a Calendar is all about the best looking ones.

We'd need fall pics (yellow/orange leaves and frost)
You must be registered for see images

winter (ice and snow)
You must be registered for see images

Spring (rain, floods puddles)
You must be registered for see images

and Summer (beaches, girls, sunshine, carshows)
You must be registered for see images

There, now we only need another 4 people to add theirs and we're reay to go, LOL.

Just as an FYI, the calendar project we did for the site years ago "died" only because the printer we used went belly up. I still have all the pictures, formats, etc. While we could get custom calendars done in a standard 11x17 format (regular 8.5x11 paper double-folded), we wanted to go the extra mile and make them larger - 14x20. Here was the last go round:

Kansas City Viper Club Calendar Project

We still get quite a few requests and have talked to a few other printers about resurrecting the project. The only challenge is that most want $20 per calendar to even consider that size, making them difficult to sell and make much for the club. Nonetheless, if anybody knows of a decent printer I think we can do the rest.

Oh and Chad, the challenge with a "bikini" version is that it isn't always politically correct and some members might take offense - not to mention the folks that own the rights to the Viper logo itself. While it might be popular and sell quite a bit, we have to be careful not to lose members that might consider the club to be sexist. Not to mention possibly ticking off the folks that help make the club such a success: Dodge. That said, I suspect we could broach the subject with both our membership and SRT to see just how controversial it might be. Just remember this: If they decide to shoot the messenger I am pointing at you. :D

I would be happy to offer my design firm services as well. I think we have enough resources with car photos that we can pull it off without a photoshoot. I also have many printers who could handle this job with ease. We need to determine a price of what everyone would want to spend per piece and come up with a cost from there.

I think you will need about $20k to make it work, to cover ALL the expenses. You kind of need to figure it like a business such as the advertising, printing, design, postage, packaging, labor costs etc.
And then which 12 pictures do you use out of the thousands of good pictures out there??

Of the 3 calendars I made a couple years ago, the girly one, the racing one, and the stock vipers one, the stock vipers one sold the most.
