Nice article. Unfortunately we see some of the same old B/S poping up again. a

hot-rodded Dodge V-10 truck engine

he car is an absolute blast to drive all the while being as crude and basic as an MG.

I would have to agree, I'm coming for a 500hp '68 Corvette to the '04 500hp Viper. The two cars are very similar in purpose, and discomfort, but the Viper benefits form 35 years of technological developments.

Short list of Luxry Items on the viper:
Working A/C
Waterproof top (for the most part)
Usable trunk
Glove compartment
Hydraulic clutch (but it's still stiff)
ABS
MASSIVE tires that won't fit on a Corvette
fuel Injection
CD changer
Motorized adjustable pedals
Very quiet cabin (when compared to a '68 Corvette)

Despite those luxuries, the Viper is still a beast like the Corvette.

That's why I bought one

I've owned both at the same time, a stock 2000 RT/10 and an original NCRS Top Flight Corvette with heavy options and a 427 X 435 hp motor. On of the rasons I got rid of the Vette was when I went into my garage I always found my way to the Viper. The Vette was a great collectible but the Viper was plain more fun.
