I use my '96 GTS as my daily driver except in the Winter (we are having a real one here is Chicago this year). While I've only owned mine for about 6 months now I've had no problems taking the Viper out every day, rain or shine!

I bought it to drive it!

I would reccomend the GTS as a daily driver-more water and wind proof. Beware of driving in the rain...very slippery.

I drive my 94 everyday and the only real drawback is that you get used to having too much power. I do get a little wet sometimes, but what the heck. It is an expensive daily driver for me as I'm averaging about 17K miles/year.

I have been using my '96 GTS as a daily driver since I bought it last April. If weather is really nasty, however, I will take my Dakota Pickup. I had an RT 1st gen., but it wasn't as convenient due to the sliding after market windows, etc. The GTS is the better choice for a daily driver, but then, I sure do miss the convertible top! The GTS is much faster and more powerful, though. Either car is a trip in and of itself! Go Dodge!

I'd suggest adding 1/4-1/2 degree of negative camber to all wheels to correct the dartiness that comes from wide tires with insufficient negative camber on street pavement. Exchange your sunshades right to left, this keeps the warning decal on them from distracting your peripheral vision (it will be on the top rather than the bottom). If you opt for a GTS: instead of leaning forward at lights to see if the signal has changed watch the reflection off of your hood, it's much easier on your neck. Switch to EBC brake pads (available at www.greatbrakes.com) or Porterfield R4S's to control dust on your wheels. Be prepared to be stopped at every gas station, supermarket and restaurant by admirers. Carry a polaroid in the car at all times to take pictures of all your new best friends (many of them not yet teenagers) with the car. Oh yes, and memorize these: 1."Around $70k." 2. "Actually they're hood vents." 3. "A little over 190 mph stock." 4."They are for adjusting the headlights."

Florida,
I drive a 1999 RT and drive it every day. I have no leakage problems. The only time you might get wet is sliding over the large sills. Get a RT10 because you get a hard top and you have the option for the open air ride (with soft top in the trunk). Which is fantastic. Its like owning two cars. Email me if you have any questions. I owned a NSX without targa top which led me to the RT. Boy what a difference.

Couldn't drive anything else in preference to a Viper just waiting to fire up in the garage. I'm never, never late for work anymore (including fuel stops!)! Makes being at work more enjoyable too, as I can see my GTS out the window. But, do be careful where you leave it.

Brandon,

As the parent of a sixteen year old I am pretty happy to hear your current tag line:

I'm 16, I have paid for both of my cars as well as everything and anything to do with them...

Music to my ears...

I drive my RT/10 almost everyday. The only time I don't is when it is raining or if I'm going into the country to hunt.

I have a '99 GTS and drive it every day everywhere in any weather. It has been lowered, has stiff springs, rattles, squeaky brakes, NGR, 10-15MPG, a few scrapes under the front lip, and is an unadulterated blast to drive. Handling in slippery foul weather it slots in between my 911 C4 and my Lexus LS400 w/ traction control. As long as you stay out of standing water at speed it'll handle as well or better than 90% of what's on the road with you in the rain. Obviously, because it has more than twice as much torque as practically everything around you, you have to be extremely careful with the throttle. I go to malls, strip centers, restaurants, the movies, park in a public shopping center parking lot 5 days a week (where I work) and have not gotten one single tiny door ding or anything since I got the car 10 months ago. I never take up two slots or park sideways or do anything odd that would make someone think I thought my car was better than everyone else's. In the 300 days I've been driving (~10 mos.) at least one person has asked me something of interest about the car every single day I've had it. I've been watching this closely just to see when the first day someone doesn't say something happens. The average is easily two+ people a day and occasionally whole crowds and car loads of people. If you're shy you better pick another car or get over it. In any event, it is the most entertaining and fun daily driver I've ever had and I've never gotten the feeling that it wasn't meant to be either

Brandon,

She quite wisely considers it out of her league. Actually she lusts after my winter ****** ('92 Eagle Talon TSi AWD) instead.
