Weird. The vette is about 150 HP shy and about 150 ci shy. Its looks are a little more calm but the bite is more fearce

I've heard of this guy. I'm pretty sure he writes press releases for the Taliban.

Ya, had a guy at work come over and tell me about that quote. He was just tickled, like a kid that just found out the Viper isn't really all that. Kind of amusing to me that the word of one becomes gospel to the vette guys. I need to take him out and let him see what the car is all about, two different worlds. I used to own a vette, needed something this time more raw, less refined and more fun to look at.

Even funnier, he was saying how he emailed hill to see if they would include air conditioned seating in the new vette. heated seats, a/c seats, cup holders, butt massagers, HUD, traction control, yaw control, adjustable suspension, etc.

Just a whole different target for the car. All that electronics and stuff, thats gotta be a lot of crap that can go wrong down the road.

Overall, I hope Chrysler doesn't fall into a situation where it starts to be compared to the vette. DCX has to keep performaance margins significantly above the z06 or the crap will fly from the other camp.

actually in a number of aspects the Vette is a more rounded and balanced car than the Viper.

So int hat light Dave Hill's comment makes sense..

The Viper has it on pure dry weather straight line performance..

But add a wet road, twisties, and humid weather and the dynamics change rapidly..

So you're saying that the corvette is a decathlete like Bruce Jenner
and that the Viper is a more like a middle linebacker in the NFL.

Gimme the Viper
I got big Yarbles
and I love dangling 'em.

If you want 2nd class performance and 1st class luxury, go buy the vette. If you want the fastest, meanest, sexiest, baddest ****** thing on 4 wheels, DO NOT get a vette.

Great cars, but leave the vettes to the yuppie stock brokers and housewifes. Leave the Vipers to us..

Dave Hill has been off his rocker for years! I've read quite a few of his "limericks" in Corvette Quarterly before. He still thinks the 2001 Z06 can go 0-60 in 4.0 sec flat and the 2002 will
go 3.9 sec at 0-60. (Car & Driver,Motortrend and Road & Track had the 01 Z06 in the mid 4 sec range). Maybe he does his Corvette tests on the Moon where he spends his summer vacations!

Corvettes are great too.
As much as I love Vipers and Mopar products in general, I can't believe all the anti Corvette stuff on this web-site. Corvettes are different than Vipers but that doesn't make them bad. I own a '57 Corvette and it is just as much fun as the Viper.

I own a '54 Corvette and it isn't NEARLY as much fun as the Viper. BTW it's for sale...

Late model Corvettes are trying to please too large of a potential customer base. If you want a true performance car you shouldn't have to choose between manual or automatic.

The Corvette has more options than my 740i Sport! Which furthers my point - if you want a true luxury car you shouldn't have "comfort groups" and "convieniance packages" either.

I think a car is defined by it's standard features. Not by what you can have stuck on to make it something it wasn't originally meant to have.

If someone truly beleives any Corvette (even with all of the options) can come off the line and "beat" a Viper in any category (performance, popularity, etc) they are not being realistic. Put another way, how many fewer Vettes would be sold if they cost the same as the Viper? or if the Viper cost the same as the Vette?

Venom,

Saw your post over there and I was like, Uh Oh!!heh

There is one thing I've learned so far in owning cars.
If someone reads something about their car, whether a 1st grader wrote it or a top level exec. wrote it, they beleive it 100%. I choose to own both and let my own judgement prevail. 99% of the Corvette guys buy their Corvette cuz it's supposed to be fast. Then they realize the salesmen have been lying to them or they lined up against another Viper owner that knows how to launch his viper and then jump on the bandwagon of "It costs 30k less, it shouldn't be as fast" haha. 99% love to rag on how much faster their vette is over a Mustang.. Go figure.
the other guy away.."
Every time I hear the clown shoe comment I have to laugh. I guess clown shoes walk all over Barbie Cars.

phew

Yes, this comment was posted on the Corvette Forum Kill Stories section....Here's the link in case anyone cares:

Link to bizarre Dave Hill quote in Corvette Forum thread

I tried resisting the temptation to respond, since obviously that thread (and this one) is just meant to get a rise out of Viper guys (and gals), but I was overcome by the temptation. I said just about what Gary did, with the conclusion that any competition that exists is in some category other than performance since the Viper stomps all over the Vette in that area.

So, this Tupperware dude has a grand total of one post to his credit over here, and lists his occupation as "Fisher of men" in his profile....I don't know what that means exactly, but I think that's one of the attributes of a

As a footnote, isn't Dave Hill the guy who insisted Chevy would not get in a horsepower war with Dodge???

Sorry, but the Gen III Viper is going to stomp all over the C6 Vette.
