Well he was putting everything together witht he new Clutch and He said teh Bolts on the FLywheel were backing out or stripped out. He said this was the entire problem to begin with!

I guess the FLywheel Bolts might be a bigger problem!

Keep you updated on the Car coming back together!

THANKS, David. May be on the way to the question that I posed in another thread:

David, weren't clutch bolt torque specs also a question on 04 SRT-10 Vipers, or was it just SRT-10 Rams ???

Will watch for more info...and, HAVE a blast at Columbus !!!

Hey,
I posted that exact thing on another thread about the flywheel bolts falling out...I have already found one also. This is going to be a problem, I can see it coming.

As you may recall, my pressure plate bolts backed out not once, but twice. On the second go around, I had my Viper tech use locktite.

Being a new viper owner, I am relatively appalled at some of these problems that are coming to light ie cam bolts, balancer, rear end pin, clutch, fly wheel etc. I did carefully look at the viper forums before buying. As an as aside, when I was into vettes, I noted there were a lot of problems also.

But the point is the advice is to get all these things looked at which is fine, but practically speaking how are we to do this? I don't thing Dodge is going to do this.

Kelly06, I have never had a car (Ford, Pontiac, Chev, Dodge, Jeep) or truck (Ford, Dodge) that has been headache free. Interestingly enough my 00GTS that is flogged on the track on a reguler basis has had virtually no manufacturer issues. The 00 GTS has 16k miles of which probably 10k are from some form of performance event. I have nothing but praise for the way my Dodges have performed. The issues that arise are what I see warranties exist for.

I hear you. I guess that is why I got the extended warranty. I love the car--pure 1960s. So I will drive it like it should be, but I'll make sure I have a phone with me.

Kelly06...if it makes you feel any better, I have a CL55 that is a great car with terrible quality. Making things worse is that I've had the car back to the dealer numerous times and have written to MBUSA and they have refused to have anyone from Mercedes call me. They say the dealer is the point of contact for them. When you consider that the car cost almost $120k it makes the issues I have with my Viper seem minor. I've had 5 Vipers and without question the quality is better than the CL55. Also, Dodge has listened to the owners and responds to our needs. Mercedes should take a lesson and stop being arrogant. Anyone want to buy a CL55?
