I would have almost guessed D myself. My understanding was that it was more for emissions than fuel economy. It was actually developed as a loophole to the EPA testing procedure as I understand it. I believe the test cycle dictates that you are supposed to run up to a certain speed through all the gears, but by locking out the lower gears they get around some of the sections that would fail them.

I'd guess D as well just because I know what the other three are, lol.

C would be the only other one I could think of, but I know there's no MAF sensor. I know there's alpha-N tuning, which is just throttle position and rpm, but I don't think that would be sophisticated enough for regulations of the time. It's built more for independent throttle body type stuff.

The design chief at the time was Tom Gale, and Roy Sjoberg assembled the team that would transform the concept car to production reality. And the engineering executive Francois Castaing helped put it together to make it to the showroom floor.

If you are talking about Briggs Swift Cunningham, that's a bit of a stretch, but I read some where that the Cunningham had something to do with the under pinning's, I could never see it.

Bob Lutz is considered the father of the Viper, but all he did was get all the right people together.

No it's not. I found a story in a Viper Club magazine that used the verbiage in the question and listed the name of the person that did the drawing. I just replaced the name with who. I'm sure Sam will tell me it was a poorly structured question. I'll give the answer during my lunch break

According to the article, the answer is Craig Durfy
