Was at Viper days in Beaverfalls Pa. today. As I left the track there was a burn spot on the road with fiberglass all around it. The people who where standing around it said it was a Viper. It looks like it was a total burn down. Does anyone know who it was and if any body was hurt.

Yes, it was my car. I got out before it was totally engulfed in flames. I am still in chock. I came up from Ontario to pick the car up. I was lucky to have come up with a good friend of mine who drove me there and back.

I am in shock!!! Not the power steering cap. I was told that it may have been the fuel filter. The fire started at the rear. I have not had the car since July 1st, it was being repaired following a catalytic converter fire to the left side. It was suppose to be running fine. I took it out for a test drive and never made it back!!!

Hey Wojo sorry to hear that, it's a real bummer :(

Just curious, but did the car have the factory heat shields on?

Why power steering cap? The car can catch fire because of that?

JiPi, You need to do a search on power steering caps as they tend to loosen, and when they do, your car can end up in flames. There is an improvement made by Hipo Engineering (?) that will solve this problem and for $20-30 should be mandatory on every viper. A couple dealers handle this part but not sure which ones. Check it out.

Could not sleep at all last night! I am totally devestated!

Cal, if you mean the heat shielding under the side sills, I believe that it was stock(new).

I had the power steering vent installed and a power steering cooler.

If that is true, where the hell is the factory re-call?

Hey Casey,

I was thinking about the heat shields around the headers.

I hope the insurance co doesn't give you a hassel, and you're able to pick up another Viper you like.

That is a picture of what my GTS looked like.

Thanks for all of your concerns.

He said , " The fire started at the rear " , so I am thinking it may have been the , "running a bit rich - backfire flame lights up the rear facia" issue. Or a fuel leak , but not the power steering cap or the header heat shields.
