Viper video edit question!

I got some video with my new GoPro camera. I took these as separate videos and want to edit out all the crappy stuff (getting stuck behind slow cars) and make one long video. I am not good at this stuff so don't go crazy with the suggestions, I need "editing for dummies" (kindergarten edition)

You can do that with Movie Maker which sometimes is loaded on laptops or PC's.

Or you you can use a commerical program like I use, Cyberlink Power Director which costs about $70.00. Search on your programs for Windows Live Movie Maker. Both are easy to use and come with help files.

Very steady. It was mounted with the sticky pad to the windshield, and with the suction cup to the outside of the door. both locations were good.

Depends on what format thew camera shoots Windows Movie Maker make does not input MP4's so I use Adobe Premiere

It's easy and free to use if you have Windows.

Adobe has a trial version of Premiere if you want to try it. http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=premiere_pro
I believe it watermarks the videos if you're using the trial, but if you buy it, it will remove the watermark.

Also, re-reading your original post, you seem to need some pointers once you're in the program.

What you're describing that you want, you'll be using the Trim function to cut out parts from the beginning and end of the clips to tighten them up, and you'll be using the Add Music to mix in music (you'll want to fade down the original sounds, if it's all wind noise, and fade up the music level).

GoPro video is compatible with Windows Movie Maker. Works well and simple to use. Very easy to edit out what you don't want and splice what's left using smooth transitions.
