Just got an email about ViperDays requiring 3+ event participants to have 5/6pt Harnesses! Surprised to see a new requirement, and am interested in attending if car and cash are up to speed (already looking at the $615 entry, hardtop STILL not fixed under warranty, might need new rotors, will need new fluids and soon need new front tires, etc. etc. etc.). Regardless, what are my options and purchase locations for 5/6pt Harnesses? What's involved in installation? (Hoping to hear from the Cones here :) )

Here's the safety rules from the email I just got:

NEW RULES FOR THIS YEAR!! See below!

Driver's Suit (2 layer min), Nomex Gloves, Neck Restraint required for Unlimited, Comp Coupe Unlimited classes.

Neck Restraint highly recommended for all classes.

RT/10's must have a roll bar or hardtop.

SRT/10's must have a roll bar; hard top is NOT allowed

Fire extinguisher required for Unlimited Class

5 or 6 point harnesses mandatory for SRT/10's.

5 or 6 point harnesses mandatory for all other cars if you attend 3 or more events.

If you only go to 1 event with Viper Days per year then you DO NOT need to have the 5 or 6 point harnesses. It is highly suggested for your safety that if you do only 1 or 2 events a year with any car club that you protect yourself, but that is up to you. Viper Days does require the harnesses for people that do do more than 3 events. If you are doing more then 3 events a year with us this means you are getting more serious about the track events and you are going faster and we have to help protect you since you are not looking out for your own best interests!!

SAFETY is the most important thing!! We are concerned!

Teamtech is a good choice, Janni & Henry Cone have installation instructions which you can do yourself, MAKE SURE you ask for the RT/10 template, the GTS template is different. It is good to have the 5 points (I prefer 5 to 6 points) when your on the track, they are much safer AND they hold you in the seat during high "G" turns, ask anybody you are all elbow and knees trying to hold yourself in place with 3 points, you end up sore as heck not to mention losing some concentration on the track, the 5 points also tuck away when you use it on the street with the 3 points.

Nothing wrong with getting a workout while enjoying a drive! Give me a Viper so I can get back in shape. I need to lose some weight before going back to Myrtle. :)
