Couldn't have been a nicer weekend!

This past Viperdays at Thunderhill was probably the most fun track weekend I have ever had! Great people, fun times, beautiful track. Met some new faces, and it was good to see some familiar ones too.

The Archer racing team got my new Brakeman 3s put on, and fresh Motul fluid put in very quickly, and I was glad to have them there at the track. Although I had brought some good pads and a jack, it would have taken me far longer to do the work, and I probably would have missed a session. That made me feel great, to hit the track again with good brakes!

Everyone I know improved their times by Sunday, and the VRL race was really great. I even won this great Universal Brake Tool kit from Schley Tools. Very cool!! And I can't beleive how many people came to the dinner! There must have been over 250, or at least it seemed like it! And boy did we make some noise, and had a lot of laughs, too, even during the auction to benefit the Brian Angen Foundation.

Courtney, Skip, and the rest of the team, here's a big thanks for all you do! Here's wishing Viperdays continued success for many years! Won't be long before we are out there with Gen3 coupes!

It was fun to ride with you Saterday Vic! Did you improve your times on Sunday?
Dinner Saturday night was a blast! The Brian Angen Foundation raised almost $8,000.00 !!!! Thanks to Skip!!
Viper Days, Skip, Courtney and Tracy are our Family!
I also want to see some picture's. I have a in car video of the race on Sunday but I would not know how to post a part of it. What a great race too. It was almost an hour long. It was a blast mixing it up with Rob Fosters son who was driving the Comp Coupe rental car. He did a great job keeping the car on the track that day. (Saturday was just a warm up). What a week end!

Dan, thanks for the driving tips, it made me feel far smoother. I only wish I could remember everything I'm taught!

Chuck, local track star John Dearing rented one for about $3000 for two days, I think. Too rich for my blood...

Hmmm, so at four sessions per day that comes to $375 per session. That's worth it. Gotta find out if the rent by session.

Dan, by Sunday I got quite comfy schlepping around the track in my awkward style, which was good enough to take 4th, out of 10 cars in Prepared class. I turned very consistent 2:15s, 2:16s, last session, but didn't have the time (or nerve?) to break through to the next plateau. If it weren't for the "ringer" Terry Rossi, I would have taken third. (We gotta bump that guy into the race group, or no one else will ever have a chance to win Prepared!!!) :D Just kidding, Terry is a great guy, and a good teacher.

People are saying that the lap times accross all classes were low, due to the heat, and the greasy track. Whaddayouthink?

I also attended the Viper Days for the first time. It was a lot of fun and learned a lot about my car and driving fast.

I had one question for those of you who attend these weekend races regularly. Should I do anything mechanically to my car after a weekend race? During the race I changed my brake pads, flushed the break fluid, changed motor oil and transmission oil. Do I need to check all the nuts and screws?

Dave, if Courtney doesn't have any to post, then I guess there won't be any pics. :(

I don't have the time or patience to take pics, sorry. Hope someone else did.

Vic,
I was able to improve on Sunday by .10 sec. to set a new personal record of 2:00.8. I was vary happy with that. Having all those Comp Coupes to chase helped me out a lot. I was so fortunate to have the opportunity to drive a Comp Coupes this last week end. That was a real treat! With some practice I think I could learn to drive with the big boy's.
I had such a great time instructing two woman, Suzan and Dixie as well as Suzan's husband Doug. All of them dropped an average of 10 seconds from there first session to there last. Hat's off to all of them for there courage to hang on and go for it, Viper Speed! :2tu:

I made Thunderhill myself, and had a blast at "Brian's Day" as well. Our honored VCA founder, Maurice Liang (Mighty Mo) filmed stills and video galore. I hope he posts.

I have over 2500 miles at Thunderhill, and this was the COOLEST day (temp wise) I ever drove. This is the trcak where the new Ford GT commercial was filmed, and some Panoz footage as well.

I thot the Ford GT was a touch-up job to make the grass green! It's a friggin DESERT from June onward. Any off-course = a grass fire. Bit This day was beautiful, lush green.... and even some MUD for thos who went agricultural.

Good folks, good track, good fun, good memories. Glad I got to see so many of you there. Sorry I missed Sunday.....had a class w/ Scott Pruitt at PIR.

Until this weekend, Button Willow was my favorite track -- but no longer. Thunderhill was awesome! It was my first time at Thunderhill and it was fantastic. I was able to click off several 2:02's on Sunday which made me happy (I was shooting for a 2:05 for my first time there.)

Watching the videos today, I could see where so much improvement is possible. I would love to go out there again right away because I know I can knock off a couple more seconds by looking at what I did wrong, but the 20 hour round trip drive is brutal!

Thanks Courtney, Skip, Tom and the rest of the gang!

You are doing really great, Manny. With not too many track days under your belt, you are assaulting the tracks with the confidence of a ******!

I'll be back, maybe later this year. Gotta tend to the biz.
