M1 204, the Viper Oil filter is also used on the old 5.9 Magnum engine, 5.2, and current Hemi Engine. IE, your Charger should use the same filter as your Viper. Atleast I know the 5.7 liter Hemi is the same because my Quad Cab Ram uses it. Your 6.1 may be different but I doubt it.
If your Wally doesn't have them, let me know, I can grab a couple of them for you and hook up with you while I am in Virginia. Maybe next time I won't catch you on the day you have a meeting.
John,
Do you have a part or model number? I'm getting ready to do an oil change here in the next week or two.

Nice picture Neil, the only thing missing is the rear differential fluid and the transmission fluid.
Kelly,
Check it out tomorrow and let me know. For some reason, our Super Walmart does a lot of testing for corporate, they often carry things other stores don't to see how well items will sell.
Call me on the cell tomorrow if you cannot get them and I will pick you up some, or I can bring down a few of mine. The Autozones always seem to run out of them, so when I can get them, I stock up. I am pretty sure I have 4 of them in stock in my cabinet in the garage.
Why not use he new oil filter designed for the Viper from Mopar, it is supposed to have the same characteristics required by the 08 engine and was designed for use on the Comp Coupe...I think it is about 12.00 thru Mopar Parts.

A-ha! Yet another sneaky move by WalMart as part of their insidious plot to ruin small business. Watch out, tuners! Pretty soon WalMart'll have an aisle stocked with discount stroker engines, twin-turbo systems, and VIPAIRS!

There is nothing wrong with the stock filter and I don't know enough about the new one for the 08. There was a pretty extensive article posted on the web and someone had put a link on this a few years ago. The put each filter through a similar regiment, then cut them all open and analyzed them. What I remember most from this article was the difference in the construction of the oil filters. The differences included such items as the pleat/filter area, check valve and quality of the overall assembly.
There is a difinitive difference between the different grades of oil filters. I can't recall who makes the Mopar one, while it is not a bad filter, it is not made as well as the K&N and Mobil 1 filter.
I also remember that I would never use a Wix of Fram filter again based on what I saw/read.
I have beeen using the Mobil 1 filters and synthetic oils in all my cars for many miles and years. I ran the standard synthetic oil in my daily driver Durango R/T for nearly all of the 107K miles I put on it. I went 10K miles between oil changes, however, the filter was changed every 5K miles. I had no oiling issues in the engine and no performance drop in the motor even after 100K miles. Even at the end of the 10K intervals the oil still had a decent "gold" color to it. I have recently gone to 8K mile intervals on my Dodge Ram. The oil still look great when I changed it last week after 8K miles.
Now, is the Mobil 1 filter overkill in the Viper given how frequently the oild is changed per mile? Perhaps. But if I can get a filter that is better made, provides lower micron filtration at a reasonable cost, why wouldn't I?
And with regards to the filter being changed on the 08, that just proves the old Mopar filter was not sufficient given the improvements made to the valve train. Since the 08 engine has variable vavle timing and acheives higher revolutions, better oil pressure and perhaps better filtration were needed to ensure longevity of the motors internal components and valvetrain.
