Marv--
I'd like to know if the Gen 5 still has the same window regulator mechanism that the Gen 3 and Gen 4 has. I've asked the Grail Keeper also if he knows from some of his buddies. I'm asking, not to be a party downer, but to kind of make a point with SRT that they really need to step up to the plate and fix this obvious flaw. There has been so many failures that if the window was safety related there would have been a recall forced by the Feds. I'm still hoping that SRT will step up with a fix and do the right thing.---Dave

^^This, and....

How will the SRT interior differ from the GTS interior? How will the Gen V appeal to those of us who prefer the Viper to be raw/basic/nasty?

How much cooler will the interior be? Since the new Viper still employs side exhaust will the sills still get as hot as the previous generation?

Great Job on the new car! It looks great in person!

Question 2: When will a convertible arrive?
Question 3: Will the convertible roll hoops be functional (track ready) or cosmetic?
Question 4: Will the convertible be a hardtop or rag top?

1. I note that you added a "battery run down protection and vehicle storage mode". Congrats on that. Where is the battery located? Same place as Gen III/IV or different?
2. What spark plugs are being used? Useful life?
3. What is the procedure to remove and reinstall the cross brace shown above the engine for better engine access?

Thank you to the SRT team for all the hard work, dedication and countless hours, to re-issue the Viper in the Gen V configurations! Against all odds it almost seems.
Please consider a special sales brochure for this 2013 model. With so many new development and engineering details, it could easily be as impressive as the 2010 Final Edition brochure was.

It would be great if enough copies were available that VCA members could purchase them directly. Brochures can be somewhat rare around dealerships and this could help out the VCA or VPA via the sales.
thanks,
brent

SRT staff great job on the new Viper it met or exceeded what I was hoping for, I have just a question and suggestion.

1. Why 18s on the front 19s all around would be better?

2. Plastic engine covers... a little cheap ... let’s see some nice valve covers like the previous gens.

PS The new GTS interior looks awesome.

Many thanks to Ralph and the SRT team for giving us a beautiful and awesome Gen V!
Questions:
1. Will the production cars have the same tire to wheel arch spacing as the show car? If not what will the production wheel/arch clearance be?
2. What is the road height clearance of the show car GTS? Of a production car?
3. If needed, how can a production GTS be lowered with ride adjustable coil over Bilsteins to the show car height?
4. When will pictures of all the new interior and exterior color's be available?

Do you guys, or anyone for that matter, know what the Canadian price for the GTS will be? I can't seem to find out from my local Viper dealer in Toronto. The 3rd email quotes a price of $137,000 US, could this be right? If so, it would cost us about $145,000 Cdn.

With the VCT feature and additional HP, what is the maximum oil flow rate the 041AA "SRT" oil filter will be handling? Are there any other interesting details about the lubricating oil system that you can share at this time?
thank you,

What drove the useless near 6th gear in the Gen 4 and what has changed to eliminate it in the Gen 5?

I assumed is was to achieve a maximum MPG and avoid the gas guzzler tax, is the Gen 5 going to exceed the 22.5 MPG required to avoid the tax?

Regarding the Na filled Exhaust Valves, can you put it into perspective as to how much heat transfer, or increased temperature tolerance they provide?

What is the main benefit that drove this feature for the Gen V?

thanks,

Many of our Corvette friend's LS7 engines have eaten their hollow stem valves and were destroyed. What's the risk of this happening on the Gen V engine? I'll assume that the answer is "Low risk" so the natural follow up question is why would the Gen V have a lower risk to this failure than the Corvette LS7?

You had the interior selections at the show (thanks for that), but we didn't have samples of the color selections. The zip drive has a list of the colors, but no samples. When can we get an idea (swatches) of the colors for the cars? Are there going to be any special "intro" colors (e.g. first 300, for your most loyal owners who have many vipers :) ).

Also, it was discussed that we have a hood selection on the GTS, are there pros and cons of which hood one should get?

Thanks for the time, making an awesome car, and a great experience at the NY show.

SRT and Team Viper, much respect on your accomplishment and a great informational Youtube video of Mr. Richard Winkles giving us some insight on the Gen V power plant! I want one in my stable now..:2tu:

A few questions if possible and thanks for doing the deed!:usa:

:The new intake, would a good comparison of the improved air flow be similar to a ported Gen 4 lower intake?

:The new cam, is there more Valve lift as well as increased intake duration?

:The new aluminum flywheel, faired better than the steel unit, how? ACR-X was mention, engineers where surprised? What type of initial testing was done?

:The new exhaust, if more free flowing than Gen 4, what changes have been done, cats, mufflers ?

:Will the new Head Gaskets be retrofittable to Gen 4 and earlier generations?

:New Engine RPM capability?

:The new rear differential, has this unit been upgrade or tweaked to improve on?

Thanks!

The car show had a carbon fiber rear end while a recent video showed a painted rear end. Just curious as to which one is official or if it differs from models.

What is the RPM set to on the LC?

Multiple stages for the TC were mentioned; how agressive are the settings in between each?

Will the weight distribution still be set to a slight rear bias?

What is the weight of wheels compared to the "sidewinders" of the prvious generation?

How come the car does not have 700 hp, and why does it have to cost $137,000 : >)

Seriously though, I had pretty much made up my mind to buy a Mercedes SL as I wanted some additional creature comforts, and driving the raw Viper was getting a bit old hat, but now seeing the fantastic new interior, all the refinements and the beautiful body in carbon fiber, the merc is dead meat, and I need the new Viper. Thank you for not allowing me to get that fuddy duddy.

What market demographics is the new Viper targeted for?

What differences would a previous Viper owner notice when driving the new car.?

No Mercedes!! As for the demographics: There will be two price classes, the SRT Viper is targeted at the Viper loyalist who wants a great back-to-basics machine with the relevant performance-oriented technology, and the SRT Viper GTS which is targeted both at the loyalist who wants more premium content as well as conquest buyers who might of not considered Vipers in the past. The GTS brings some new (to Viper) technologies such as adjustable suspension; a Harman Kardon 32-volt full-surround sound system and a fully leather-wrapped interior.
Either model can be had with the SRT Track Package which includes much of the ACR-like performance suspension and two-piece, high performance brake rotors.
