I had a girl give me her phone number ... right in front of her boyfriend. That did not go over too well. Fortunalty, they both were only about 17. How much damage could a skinny 17 year old do? His girl friend was cute, however.

Huh?

People in Miatas amuse me. I always wondered if they fear decapitation by a errant Semi? Pretty sad considering I drive a Sol

Yup, even in SoCal this car is just hard not to be noticed: http://vca1.viperclub.org/ubb/Forum14/HTML/010270.html

This past weekend, a motorist took some photos while I was driving. My girlfriend thought there was a cop pulling us over, but it turned out to be flashes from the camera. She jokingly told me that I can't take out the car withour her in it, because of all the attention this car gets especially on women

I agree with Performin, it can be a bit disturbing sometimes.

I should also mention this. Towards the end of the day, I pulled into a mini mart to get a quick snack. I sat out in the parking lot eating it, but I wasn't near the Viper. The car was within sight, but I was curious to see what would happen if I wasn't standing near it. As I started eating, a car pulled in and parked next to it. It took me about 5 minutes to finish eating; by that point it was obvious that the people in the car next to mine were waiting for me to return so they could talk to me about it, cause they weren't getting out. This was right during twilight time, when the sun had gone down but it was still just barely light out. My car is black and has about 3 coats of Zaino Z2 and who-knows-how-many coats of Z6 gloss enhancer on it. Under these lighting conditions, with a complete Zaino treatment, black looks just incredible. I mean it doesn't look like paint- more like a shimmering layer of glass or water or something. Anyway when I finally returned to get in, I started talking to the guys that had parked next to me. The guy in the passenger seat just stared and said (slowly, as if hypnotized) "She's....absolutely... gorgeous". Then we both just sat there staring at it. I think he had an out of body experience. What other car can draw this kind of attention just standing still?

I am looking forward to my SRT-10, as it should have much less of this reaction. While I love driving the GTS on country roads, I am tired of all this publicity. I will be trading in my shiny black GTS for something more mundane- probably this week.

2Red,

Good point. Teenagers can be prone to "mean" activities if provoked (not that adults are any different). It does, however, make me wish I had a Viper back when I was qualified to date 17 year olds. Just imagine the dates I could have had! (I hope my 31 year old girlfriend is not reading this).

Yup,
When I take my car out at lunch time, I keep track... yesterday it was 2 WooHoo's, 1 OhhYahh and 1 Thumbs-up... an average day. I have a Red RT/10 with yellow wheels so it really sticks out.

Have fun and be careful!
