geek like many others in the VCA. I began my life as an aspiring musician who designed his own amps because it was cheaper. Then I found it made a rather good day job. Designed mixed signal & digital ASICs, RF, high voltage & other black arts. I got into programming when it was considered a black art.
Did the Silly-Con Valley startup routine, then had my own software company for ~12 years before I joined the "dark side".

I've been involved in the development of: Windows 95, NT4 & 5, several versions of IE, and now Whistler. This job didn't buy my house, but it did allow me a few of my latest toys including my GTS, and a large offshore sailboat.
There are a few other Vipers here at Microsoft, and most of us got together for lunch one day last fall:
