Chuck.... lol
Following Daffy as a future owner - what GM do is immaterial... if we want the quickest car we'll be changing them like our underwear - this year a Lambo, next a Brabus TT V12 or a Veyron blabla
I'm not into that.... can only drive one at a time - rather have a smaller collection and enjoy those while appreciating what others have.
For me - I've been a Mopar guy for a long time - a Viper has the looks that are irreplaceable, the cubes and hot up potential beyond most anything out there in the good ol hot-rodding tradition, and last but not least...
good as Vettes are - there's no emotional attachment to them for me... they're just good cars.... like so many others!
The Viper however is special, it might not be king of the road, but it's king of most, it might not be best at everything, but it's close in many things that matter to me... what it is however - is the best dam supercar all things considered that I'd want to put my money into....
If I just wanted to get from A to B as fast as possible - I'd get an AWD Skyline GTR, Evo or STI WRX and spend $50k doing them up and be content with that - on public roads apart from an interstate - they are virtually unbeatable.
Sometimes its not just about being fastest a to b - but how you feel getting there and what you see when you get to your garage, and hear when you gun it through a forest and back off thru the turns. My Viper will not beat my brothers Skyline thru a twisty coastal road because you can't beat AWD traction - but on every straight I can get it to hook it'll walk the talk, on every turn I can throw it in it'll hold like a go-kart, everytime I drive it will be with the utmost respect and awe, and every time I prod the throttle it'll bark like it had a life all of its own, with an exhaust note thru the gears that is an experience everytime I hear it, as will everytime I see it in the garage and think - "gee - that's mine, doesn't she look fantastic!"
