What is the general oil temp this car runs at?

I am assuming that I am having a problem with my Oil Temp gauge. Its not moving much past the starting temp of 180. When it does move past, its like a couple centimeters, even after driving for 30 minutes. I know for a fact when I drove the car a couple days ago, the oil was much warmer, any experiences or suggestions?

It has a very efficient cooler...if the ambient temps are in the 50's (F), or lower...our '03 barely registers 180-185 while driving for at least 20-25 mnutes...noting a slight rise after stopping at a traffic light.

In the summer, with temps in the 80's (F), oil temp will register 190's-200 on same '03.

My 03 oil temperature does not seem to rise either unless I am at highway speeds etc. Basically stays at around 80 Celcius.
Just out of curiosity is your oil temp gauge in Fahrenheit? Mine is in Celcius...I thought only the speedometers were different in Canadian Vipers.

Runs at 200 here in S. Florida with the outside temp at 85 Degrees. Gets up there in about 30 minutes. Coolant temp runs also a consistent 200 after about 3&4 boasts on the DLM supercharger.

I think your temp is reading normal as well in Texas at 75 to 80 degrees I stay at 200 on the nose.

Dont forget guys;

The Oil cooler in an SRT is not an air-to-oil cooler, it is a coolant to oil cooler. Due to this, oil temperature will generally be within a few degrees of the coolant temp. You will notice that oil temp is very steady at 200 generally, only going below once you reach highway speeds and the coolant cools down below the T-stat closing temp, at which time the oil will drop to 185 or so along with the coolant.

Also remember the oil temp gauges (as well as oil pressure) are different from 03 to 04+... Dodge took the "oil temp gauge not moving much" scenario into account when they redesigned, now it reads from ?120-300? (dont quote me on that, but its close...cant remember off the top of my head)

The water to oil cooler smears this rule of thumb a little, but coolant temp is strongly related to load (obviously, cooling heads and liners) and oil temp to RPM (how fast moving parts go.)
