So as I get faster around the track and a cage and race seats look more and more likely. I would like to know what Race seats fit in the Viper? Any pointers or suggestions on the subject. I already sit with the seat all back all lowered using my own modification to a 2" seat lowering kit. I do find though the OEM seat was great when I was slower. The faster im getting I seem to move a little more no matter how tight I clinch the harness. Advice please?

Racetech makes a few seats and one specific for the Viper, most other brands will be too wide through the shoulders to fit without cutting down or removing the door panels. There is only 20" across the "wings of the seat so check specs before buying because you have to be a pretty "narrow" guy to fit in most and have the shoulder support to do you any good.

good luck,

Shandon, do a search there's a few threads on this subject. A couple guys out here use Sparco's that will fit in fine, but will you fit in the seat? Racetech is spec'd for viper and comes in two widths. I've seen another brand also, but can't remember. Like I said do a search, and, you need to sit in them. All will be side mounts and you'll need somone who knows what their doing to install safely. If you near 200 lbs then the best bet is the wide model Racetech. Mike

The Racetech wide seat # 4009 will fit in the car and can be pretty comfortable for track use, the normal width seat will fit too, but if you are over 6' and over 200 lbs, you may want to go with the wide seat. Buy the Racetech brackets too.

You can buy a set of ACRX "floor" seat brackets from Tom at Viper Race Headquarters and have them welded in or make your own. The Racetech brackets mount the seat to these floor brackets.

Good luck,

Dan

Thanks Guys! I was looking at the costs on those Racetech RT4009WHRV! OMG! How on earth can they want that much for a seat? $2200-2500.00 makes me star to like my OEM seat better heheheh! Maybe I can find a used one or something.

Shandon, the RT4009 (w) that Dan has lists for something like $950-$1000, plus mounting hardware

Here's that model installed, I think they want $200 extra for the viper logo?

That must be a different model? Thats not what the picture on Rectechs website shows? They have more head support up top than whats in your photo? Maybe there are different models available? Interesting.

This is the RT4009 (W), you looked up the "RT4009HRV (W)" (The "w" is the wider version of their seats).

The base 4009 fits vipers. The HRV is from the comp coupe. Good luck.
