I wedge the cap in the pump handle so I don't have to stand there like an idiot holding the pump for 18 gallons.
What to do with gas cap while fueling?

Hopefully, you always remove it in time before the tank is full.
Don't FL gas pumps have an auto shut-off latch?

The latch holds the lever so the gas flows just like a wedged gas cap would. Don't all pumps auto shut off?
turn the cap upside down and set it between the class and trunk there is a place that it fits perfectly straight up, and if your like me your worried that the gas seeped out to the paint so you always look never has and you never forget your gas cap..... problem solve or you could just get a fuel cell and mount it in your trunk..??? preference I suppose.

Its only a thread because I wanted to see what exactly was missing...I couldn't believe the car sold without a hook. Apparently some have it, others don't...I'll just deal with it.
