should I be concerned about before my warranty expires in early 2004?
I have the MaxiCare for my 1996 GTS. Noticed the side sill bubbling.
Anything else to look for before it's too late?
TIA

The side sill issue is probably not covered under your Maxcare, so depending on when your car was originally sold, it is a very great possibility that this will be out of your pocket. Not trying to be negative, just thought you should know.Check the common other areas, like oil pan gaskets, etc.Good luck.

Side sill should be covered under the body perforation / corrosion warranty. Don't remember the duration, but it significantly longer than the basic 3/36.

My 1996 GTS sill was....

Note, Don't know about early RT/10's but 1996 & most 1997 GTS sills will perforate. Only a question of when. The more you wash the car, the more rain it sees the sooner it will happen. If you want to prevent, carefully remove the sills, remove the insulation, clean and paint the inner sill with caliper paint, then attach a thin non-absorbent, high temp insulation like thermotec. Shiny side to the sill. This keeps the water absorbent factory insulation off the inner sill wall, where it will hold the moisture against it till it corrodes. Alternatively, you can purchase the newer all metal sill insulation from Dodge for about $300 if I remember correctly.

Better to prevent then utilize the warranty as the paint (at least Viper blue) seems difficult to match.

I would do a careful undercar inspection on a lift if possible. Look for leaks around the oil pan, oil cooler and timing chain cover. Also be sure you have no transmission shifting issues.

Call Chuck Tator @ Tator's Dodge 914-763-3136. He just finished ordering a complete set of sills for my 96 GTS completely covered under the perforation warranty. Local dealerships were no help! Very nice guy and will help you every step of the way.
