Well if it is 600HP at the crank, you are probably looking at between 520 and 560 for rear wheel, an I am banking toward the higher end of the range. Each car will be a bit different but I think most will be around that range.

About 510 rwhp. Theres no way they are putting down 560 rwhp, unless Dodge underated car at 600 hp. That would be less then a 10% loss, assuming the norm, 12-15%, more seeming to be on 15% loss. So again, my vote is for seeing a little over 500, say 510-520 rwhp.

Assuming the 'typical' estimate of 12% drivetrain loss for a manual car, I'd say 600HP x 0.88 = 528 rwhp. Keep in mind that SAE makes it more difficult for makers to inflate or deflate the actual HP numbers, and that they now use a standardized test to calculate actual HP ratings. That is how we end up with weird numbers like 505 hp instead of 500, and my Escalade has 403 hp instead of 400. Makers used to round up/down to make things simple.

In the SRT engineers' chat that just occurred, SRT indicated a 12 to 15 percent driveline loss. So, based on SRT's own estimates, RWHP for the 2008 would be between 510 and 528. But the numbers alone without seeing a dyno graph showing at what RPM the power comes in, etc. is of limited data value. If anyone has managed to obtain a dyno graph of the 2008 please post it.

When Marv Spatz (former Pres. AZ VCA) saw the new motors on the engine dyno's in Detroit, I believe he said they averaged about 615 hp....correct me if I am wrong Marv.........that would mean about 540hp at the rear wheels...

I was in Detroit too and noticed that the peak hp was over 600 while on the engine dyno. We were not told exactly how these test engines were built, i.e. were they blue printed or assembled using regular production methods. The one I watched made 614 hp at just over 6000 rpm, so let's hope that these new engines are "under rated" by Dodge.

Average at the wheels should be between 510 and 520. It will be fun to find out.....

I think he meant 520rwhp and 560rwtq...

this is from the notes at "dynos in the basement"

RPM HP TQ
2400 225 495
3700 410 550 (Power is already beyond a standard vette)
4800 524 570 (Power is now beyond a z/o6)
6000 613 535 :2tu:

[*]Driveline loss per SRT: They measure a lot of things and the answer was between ~12% depending on what gear and what rpm

[*]Friction takes a lot of power: The dyno turned the crank with the motor off. It required 175 hp to spin it 6,000 rpm. (That's not 100% from friction, but most all of it is)

[*]There was a stable 10 degree (+/- 1 deg) delta between the incoming coolant temp and the outgoing coolant temp at the higher rpm loads.

When I got this heads/cam package(cam is like a 708) I first ran it with the stock exhaust and pcm no tune, stock intake mani, TB and intake setup. It made 525rwhp. It should be close to that.

After adding headers, exhaust and a tune, I it jumped to 565rwhp :D

I can't wait to see what a big cam, TB, Intake, big tubos, fuel system and a re-tune will do :D
