What would you pay to drive a SRT-10 for one day?

Hello everyone. It's been about 8 months since I last posted anything here. As most of you know, I used to rent a Viper GTS in Chicago until it's death late last year during a rental... I still am going strong in the rental department but I miss the V-10 and am actually thinking of adding a new SRT-10 to my line-up.

My question to everyone here (WHO DOESN'T OWN A VIPER) is how much are you willing to pay for a day or weekend in new $ 100,000 SRT-10? Thanks.

Why would it be worth 100K? I think 85K is a closer figure if you include taxes and the like. I have one so I can't say what it would be worth. But, it would be marginally higher than the previous GTS. Maybe 10% higher.

They want 4k over sticker, 86k + 4k + 6k for tax, then Luxury tax... put on an aftermarket exhaust.. and walaaaaaaaa. That's not the question......

I hate to break it to you but you are probably posting this in the wrong forum.. :) Most people here are GenI/II fans bigtime. Personally I wouldn't rent a SRT10. I like my Gen I just fine and don't feel that I'm missing out on anything.
My 2 cents :D

Driven Image just down the street from me in Clearwater, FL is renting their SRT-10 for $550 a day and must be getting it because it and most of the rest of their cars are off the lot at the moment. Just for comparison, I rented a RT10 just over a year ago from them and it was $400 a day. I should also note that I had to pay about $100 extra in taxes and other fees and that was not including any insurance.

That is amazing they charge $549 a day to rent an SRT-10. Basically a 85K car and renting it for 10 times what it costs to rent a 30K car. And people are dumb enought to rent it.

Sad to see that members are still bashing the SRT. I think you are a tad jelaous IMO. Something to do with lack of power?? :smirk:
I had one of my other cars in for detailing today and when I went to pick it up the owner of the shop told me that a guy had stopped by and told him that if he can get me to bring by my SRT and let the guy get his picture taken standing beside it he would pay $100!! Never had this happen with my RT or my GTS...actually about 95% of the people who comment on my SRT say they like it "way more" than the "old" model...after owning one of each model I tend to agree :D

I'd say about the same as the GTS, maybe a $100 premuim but that would be pushing it.

As me and Zoomie discovered at the OC Cruise, the real money is in H2s... If I could find a way to float that MSRP I'd be making serious cash around here...

It's all about the '**** factor', and the SRT-10 don't got it.... Hummer H1 - H2, yes. GTS, yes. RT-10, yes. Merc. AMG, yes. That being said, I would love to drive around in a new SRT-10 for a few days. But I imagine most people rent these high-end cars to '****', not to drive the ba-jesus out of.... Am I wrong?

I agree that this is the wrong forum for that question. Maybe some generic car forum site would be better but I think the answer is what the other rental place is asking.

I just returned from Vegas where you could rent an RT or GTS for $400/day with 100 free mi. I'm guessing I would expect the SRT to be around $500/day. If my buddy and I did not have our wives with us, and had the time to kill, I would have loved to have rented the GTS for a day and yes, I would have driven the bajesus out of it. $400 is cheap for the fun my buddy and I would have had tearing that baby up. If I was going to rent a viper to the public, it seems it would be more cost effective to go with a $35,000 car that rents for $400 rather than a $90,000 car that rents for $500+/-.

I believe the answer to your question might lie in what a fellow VCA member commands for his SRT-10s. Rent-A-Vette ( 800-372-1981) will put you in
a new SRT-10 for $599 a day - $499 multi day. Owner John Kiland is very , very particular, and he maintains an extremely clean stable of exotics for
rent. Maybe this will give you an idea of the amount the car will draw. I believe you need to be in a major Metro area like you are in, though, to have
population base for exotic rentals. Good luck.

What is with all the harshness from the pre-2003 crowd? I personally think I own the best-looking Viper ever made, which is why I bought it. With that said I have no problem admitting that the SRT-10 is a "better" car in every measurable way. It also costs more. For these reasons it should rent for more $100-$150 than a GTS or RT-10.

" I don't understand the prostitution angle. Would you rent your sister,GF or mother too. "

As much as I love my GTS, it's a car.. like any other business that offers a product, a rental car is a car.
" bring by my SRT and let the guy get his picture taken standing beside it he would pay $100!! Never had this happen with my RT or my GTS. "

have had several offers like that.. usually I just let them take a picture, sit in it, etc. The guy who owns the GT500 Elenore charges $5 for a photo and a poster, gets paid by the car shows to bring it in. What a great job !

" most people rent these high-end cars to '****', not to drive the ba-jesus out of.... Am I wrong? "

no. They enjoy driving a unique car and bring it back
as nice as it was when they got it. The hefty security deposit, tire tread gauge, and their insurance at stake also helps.

"people are dumb enought to rent it"
They can't or don't want to own one - yet, just want to drive one. The dealers won't test drive one to most.

" I would have loved to have rented the GTS for a day and yes, I would have driven the bajesus out of it. $400 is cheap for the fun my buddy and I would have had tearing that baby up. "

I also enjoyed renting a GTS a few years ago in Reno. Again, the big security deposit and my insurance
conveyed the point that it was to be enjoyed, even
'pushed' a bit, but taken care of. Gauge the tire treads and charge for burned and flat spot tires. They want to burn tread? great. Just pay for the replacement tires. Digital photos all around before and after, etc.

Exactly. Keep it nice, expect it to be kept that way,
the renters are happy to enjoy safely and carefully.
Weddings, birthdays, potential buyers...

As above I would price a SRT maybe $100 more. I have not had SRT requests. H2s, a few Z06s, a SVcT..

My slogan " Sharing the unique Viper experience."
2000 red GTS for now.

why the SRT? you should go for the GTS again. Not every Viper lover is a SRT lover. Thats not the case with the GTS.

My 2 cents.

For those of you that think the "gawk factor" scks in the SRT you obviously have not been in one. I have owned a RT, a GTS and now the SRT and was sort of looking forward to having fewer people stare at me & the car, give the thumbs up, chat it up every chance they get, etc. etc. ( life of a Viper owner!) but in my SRT it is twice as bad! The SRT is causing much more excitement than my GTS or RT ever did, and everyone knows it's a Viper - it has never been mistaken for a vette or an S2000 (give me a break!!) Everyone who has commented on my SRT (except 3 people and I have talked tons of people) likes the new SRT Viper a lot more, they say it looks more exotic, more European, better lines, and meaner! I loved the style of my blue/white GTS but this SRT has it beat in ALL areas hands down, in my opinion!

*Per two posts above mine (GEN III owner battling with GEN I/II owners)*
I think that's why we thought this wouldn't be a great place to post this topic. This is GEN I/II, most everyone on this side of the forum have GEN I/II's, so there you go. Of course, post this in the GEN III section, you'll have all the great responses you were looking for. I would suggest "General Viper".
