They should be clear coated.......how deep is the "ding"....
The finish is called durabrite and it is an anodized finish. Thus, you cannot have the wheel fixed unless you are either doing all four or know someone who handles alcoa rim repairs. Good luck

Steve, they are polished and then cleared over I believe. If the ding is bad there are a few wheel repair finish guys in the area that can fix that. Call Alloy wheel repair at 713 705 6489. Ask for Casey. Mobil service too. Am I da man or what?

It's not that deep but I noticed it. I can feel it with my finger nail. Its more of a scratch on the lip. I was going to cars and coffee this morning and I saw a rock heading my way and I thought I missed it but looks like that's where it hit. Thanks guys at least I know now what I'm dealing with. I let you know how it works out!

I would check around, I am pretty sure lthat IF your wheels were never redone, the factory finish is durabrite, anodized instead of being polished and cleared. If you have one wheel polished and cleared, it will not match the other three. Talk to Alcoa people if in doubt.

I called Alcoa and they said they made both kinds of wheels on the sidewinder they need know the serial number to make sure. If its durabrite they need to be totally redone. If that's the case I can live with it. I think I over reacted I looked again today and had to spend a few minutes trying to find it. I took a pic but you can't tell. You have to feel for it. I wanted to sell these wheels a few weeks ago but I must say they are starting to grow on me. I'll pull the wheel and get the number and let ya know what I find out. Steve

They look like durabrite to me but hopefully I am wrong.
Yeah, those look pretty dang shiny. I think the standard clearcoat versions are usually just a little hazier in the finish. Granted the 50k miles and loads of brake dust over the years on mine might be why might seem just a little hazy.

Durabrite is the actual finish. Yes, I am talking about Alcoa rims with propriatery DURABRITE finish.
