Which Aftermarket shifter?

Has anyone installed an after market shifter and noticed a definite improvement in shift quality? What is the consensus best shifter?

Jack, I have the B&M combined with an MGW knob. The shifts are definitely shorter/tighter, but I'm sure the small knob itself adds to the shorter feel as well. The B&M seems to feel notchier (if that is even a word), but not in a bad way. I feel it guides me a little better when shifting hard.

I've heard good things about the SVS piece as well.

i have SVS on mine. i think its the best shifter you can get

Along with a MGW knob..I love the feel and looks. :drive:

Hurst is firm, precise with a solid feel as I believe it is the same with the other aftermarket shifters. You probably can’t go wrong with any of the aftermarket shifters.

..I'm still working on the rpm window switch activated ram that's going to cycle the hydraulic clutch quicker than my leg can do it

I have the svs shifter and am happy. Also have the MGW knob.

Install is easy too - check out the link when installing it on my gts. Ignore the oil leak.

I have the SVS shifter. Good solid construction. Feels a little notchier, but more precise than the stock setup. Probably the biggest improvement is that it has stronger springs to help center the shifter at 3rd which help to make the 2-3 shift easier to find. I would assume that all aftermarket shifters would have that though.

If stock was rated a 'C', then upgrading to the solid shaft and MGW knob brought it up to a 'B'. Adding the SVS shifter got it to a 'B+' or 'A-'.

After reading some of the other threads, it looks like there may also be some shifting improvements to be had with the poly motor and trans mounts since they keep things from moving around on you while you are trying to find the gear. I think that will be my next upgrade.

I agree with this Ken. I installed the SVS shifter and it made shifting more precise than the stock shifter. However, under acceleration my shifter seemed to bounce all over the place and I would miss the 3-4 shift a lot. I installed the poly trans mount and I have yet to miss the 3-4 shift and the shifter stays put. Very solid and precise now. Worth the $35/$40 and since you'll be working under the transmission while installing the SVS might as well install the transmission mount. :2tu:

Where did you get the trans mount?

Yes it is.

It bolted right up to mine. There are threads on both forums that have been mentioning that part number off and on over the last few yrs.
