whinning sound after shifting

I noticed that after I shift into mostly any gear, I hear a whinning sound that goes away after a couple of seconds. It almost sounds like a jet turbine. The car is a 99 RT/10 with 5300 miles on it. Any idea of what it could be?

does the clutch feel like it is grabbing properly?

Everything feels like it is running properly. The clutch engages just fine. I sometimes have problems getting it into first gear, is this normal for these trannies? I know on my 99 mustang cobra that it sometimes would not go into reverse properly and all you needed to do was to take your foot off of the clutch and depress it once again to get it to go into reverse. Same thing was happening with the viper, so I just did the samething and bam, it goes right into first with no issues. How much does it cost to replace the throw out bearing?

Could it be the synchros at work? I remember hearing a mechanical winding sound when shifting my other manual cars (car was coasting, but I wasn't adding any gas...so no engine noise).

It was when I was shifting and not giving it any gas until the clutch was out. That is when I heard the noise Saint_Spinner. What do the synchros do?

Sychros help you shift into gear without double clutching. Basicaly they help match the speed of the motor spinning with the speed of the wheels when switching gears. Its a very faint sound (like a muffled rc car).

If it is this, I don't think you have much to worry about.
