Why are Quaife Prices so high here?

If you know someone that has a Quaiffe, ask them for a "ride" or better yet, drive the car. ( w/Quaiffe) It won't take long to decide...

In what way would it drive differently?


When going from a "dig" the car goes straight. When shifting hard between gears the car remains straight and in control instead of busting loose.

Coming out of turns and/or powering through turns, the car feels a lot more in control and quicker.

The difference is somewhat subtle but if you know your car, you will notice the difference. I would compare it to changing gears from 307s to 355s as far as added "power" because of additional traction.

Sorry, kinda' of hard to describe in words... But worth it.

Don't feel bad....I paid $3000.00 + for a new Quaife transmission (5 spd) for my 300 hp Miata. In the long run I'll be better off since when I break a rebuilt it's $750.00 and it seems like I break about 2 or 3 a year. I'm hoping they offer a rear end for the Miata in the future as well. It will be bulletproof.

Consider this: in early VRL racing and SCCA World Challenge the QUAIFE was NOT ALLOWED as an 'unfair advantage." The obviously faster lap times made the rulebook restrict its use!
Things change, and all racers want to go faster, so NOW the rules allow the Quaife for anyone.

Diff case internals and axle stubs must be machined and modified to fit / accept the Quaife. Cannnot be done ON THE CAR. The whole thing must be taken off, and apart, to install it, PLUS case machining.

PartsRack has "all years" rear diffs in stock: (we even have new '08s, 0 miles!) We have toe-tags of mileage of our used cores, so we can return a 'similiar or better' unit to you, ready to install / exchange. With a gearset of YOUR choice! Or, you can KEEP your OE diff and pay the core charge if you are so inclined.

There is NO debate, that a Quaife diff is the 'best and strongest' you can buy for street-track use. The 2008 GKN-Visko is a 'poor mans' quaife, because it saves about $700 but is NOT a torque-biasing unit like a Q.

There is no "Tru-Trac" for SRT10...just G1-2;
There is also the new OS-Giken SUPER LOCK for SRT10. No machining needed!

ALL of our machine work and setup is BY UNITRAX ! Our high volume, and in-stock parts, allows us to pass on some savings......Prices rose since MikeR got his fully-assembled Q-diff from PartsRack at $2900.....but NOT MUCH!

JonB hooked me up with #1 of the NEW '08 rear diffs with 3:55's for my '03 vert, a completed assembled rear end housing with 2 quarts syn fluid, for just under $1,800 delivered to my door. Shipped mine back to Unitrax to avoid the $750 core charge. Works great....now I have to work on that axle hopping before I grenade something!

How does the 08 differential differ from the 06?
How does the Quaife differential differ from the 08?
When ordering a Quaife, does that include whatever gear ratios you want, ie 3.55?

The 08 diff is much stronger than the 2003-06 cars. The earlier rears are junk if you are putting big power down. Hell, I even saw, at VOI 7, Herb blow the rear out of one of the new 2003 cars at the dragstrip.

The quaife is another step above. Just a guess, and JonB or Chuck Tator can probably correct me, but the 08 should be good for up to 750HP, then if you want more, might want to think about going with the Quaife.

Thanks 99 R/T. I am not concerned about overall power, rather power put down while turning on a track.
