DC feels the Neon SRT-4 makes a better race car, way to go DC.

DC only had the convertible SRT until just recently. Takes a while to develop a car to run at those levels.
When they competed with a coupe, they did fantastic at Daytona etc.
Would expect them to be considering a run if they can field a budget, and the talent.

They had a comp coupe for the longest time didnt they? Or does that not qualify for LeMans?

The German management (Wolfgang gets most of the credit) has a very bad history at Le Mans. In 1955 they were involved in the worst accident of Le Mans history. When they tried again Wolfgang made a better plane then LMP1 race car. Wolfgang then concluded that Le Mans was to dangerous! He lost face and turned tail and ran.

The money line is just an excuse the Germans give to their American management. GM is bleeding $$$ and continues to race to prop up their image which it does.

Regarding the comment that there was no coupe? How about the CC?

When it comes to Le Mans the Mercedes management has no guts!

Considering the success Dodge has had at Lemans with the Viper, its a shame and near embarrasment what the Viper racing program has become. GTS Bruce hit the nail on the head. No wonder it was a SRT in Tokyo Drift DC is killing the Viper slowly but surely

I can't say I'm happy with the moves by the "D" part of DC. But I'm very happy with the CC. I hope it continues.

I chatted to some dodge motorsport guys back in january about returning to Lemans, they couldnt see Dodge returning to Lemans for years, basically various reasons but no funding to make the car more competetive was the main answer, I guess they wouldnt want to turn up unless they could compete with the mighty vettes

the CC doesnt meet GT1 Lemans regulations in plenty of areas, the main problem is a very similar body style in street form is supposed to be available for sale from dealerships. Without checking I think open top in GT1 hasnt been allowed for a number of years which ruled out the SRT convertible ?

D of DC makes lame excuses - And the first Vipers at Le Mans were RT's with hard tops.

Remember the flying Mercedes LM GTR in 1996 or so?

I too think it's a shame to not see the Viper running again.
Sure it's not legible in the GT1 series. But maybe next year the GT3 is able to run in Le Mans with some privateers in CC's.
The European GT3 championship is runned under the rules of the FIA, so is the Le Mans race.
GT3 is just new.... so maybe it's a matter of time to see the Vipers returning to Mulsanne again.

flying clk-gt1 was in 1999 more like acrobatic airplane. it is still amazing to watch and think that he is driving there today!

Sheesh where have you guys been? There's a CC currently under FIA GT testing. It's out there somewhere and it's only a matter of time before a SRT coupe becomes a race car of it's own.

I stayed up the whole night watching the race and they had a piece on the corvette's history at LeMans they never go back past 2000. They finished 3rd and 4th in 2000, gee I wonder who got 1st and 2nd. So there's been a 6 year absentce for the viper at LeMans. We know what it can do, when the time comes it'll do it again.

The CC Viper is runned in the FIA GT3 championship right now... so there's nothing to be tested anymore I guess.

I think, it's a matter of time before the Viper runs Le Mans again. Maybe not as a manufacturer but as a privateer (GT3)

Let's be happy Corvette dominated their class again this year (they just won) , it is good to see a a car with American muscle lineaage do well at Lemans, regardless of who it is.

Maybe they should do a cross promotion with the upcoming Superman movie. ...You WILL believe a car can fly!

Or when MB ever gets back into LeMans, they can call their team "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang."
