Correct, you can modify the '01-'02 calipers to fit inside 17" (and even 16"!) wheels, but they will not do so stock. There are several threads about this from back when the '01s first hit the street.

Will early 17\" stock wheels fit a 2002 GTS?

I will be racing a 2002 GTS in SCCA Solo II events and would like to run the earlier 17" wheels for cost reasons. First question, will they fit on a 2002? And, do they have the same offset/backspace as the 18"s?

If they do fit, does anyone have a set of wheels for sale?

Recent good threads here about drag tires mentioned that 17's will fit but brake banjo fittings at the back need modification.

I tried fitting the ABS rear calipers on my '94 with 17" wheels - will not go. The caliper body and the banjo fitting hit the inside of the wheel. Sorry.

Recently (this probably wouldn't have come up in your search) a guy from Stoptech posted all the specifics. I beleive they make a kit/have a way to make them fit with 17's

Thanks for the info. So let me see if I have this correct. The front is no problem to put the original series 17's on right? The rear will take changing the attachment for the rear brake lines to the calipers. I looked at our 02 GTS and saw what you are reffering to, they really stick out. Does some one offer a kit to swap this to fit the 17" set up?

I still would like to know for positive if the 17's are the same offset/backspace as the 18's, anyone out there know this info?
