I cracked my windshield some time ago due to a rock and finally took it in and had it fixed. I delayed until I found a shop that would take their time and do it right while I watched. Unfortunately, I had to leave before the new windshield was fully installed due to a prior appointment and the fact that they REALLY took their time (not that I'm complaining).

Anyway, after about a week, I noticed that one of the front pillar strips which are just held in place by velcro is positioned incorrectly and I now have a gap by the door window molding. Since the windshield boot (or whatever the black rubber thing that goes around the windshield is called) overlaps this piece, any thoughts on whether I can safely remove and reposition it or am I just asking for trouble?

I'm sure Pete or someone else out there can help with this.

Why don't you take it back to the shop where you had the windshield installed and have them fix it PROPERLY.

Bigfoot,
That's plan 'B'. I just get nervous when other people start messing with the Viper. If I can just reposition the piece myself without messing up the windshield seal I'd prefer to do it so as not to risk someone else doing something stupid to the car.

Ken....don't ************ up there to Portland and SLAP you! I fully understand your apprehension to take the car back to the glass shop, but in this case, I'm going to have to side with bigfoot and say you need to take it back to them and have them make it right. Once you start pulling on things and trying to correct what THEY did, the guys at the shop will not be all that willing to make it right for you, and you can understand I'm sure.
Just call them and ask them if you can have them take a look at a piece of trim that isn't fitting so well, and I'm sure they will be happy to make it right for you. Once you attack it, YOU lose the right to have them correct it. At least, give them a chance....THEN ATTACK IT!!! Ha! pete the ex glass guy with the news Ken didn't want to hear.

Tough crowd! OK, OK I'll take it back to the shop and see what they say. Hate to make Pete have to drive all the way up here just to slap me around. Course, if they dork something up, I just might have to make the drive all the way down to Arizona....
