wiper mounting question

Tried a search but nothing came up specific to my question. On my 96 GTS, when mounting the wiper arm to the splines, it seems that it won't press fit until the nut is tightened down. Once the nut is secured, the stud, nut, and arm move in unison and there is approx 1/4" play when tightened. Is this normal?

Not sure what you mean... I'd say it's normal for the mounted wiper arm to have a small amt. of "play" and I wouldn't worry about it so long as there's no contact when they're in use.
