I know viper days does not allow hre wheels specifically, and possibly not ccw's as of this year (someone correct me if I'm wrong). And I know I-forged wheels are practically the same thing as hre, but I'd be getting a great deal on some wheels, and i'd like to drive around on them w/hoosier R6's all the time. So i'm wondering if it'd be ok to road race w/them and if viper days would allow it. I'm emailed courtney, but haven't received a reply back concerning this and I've got to pull the trigger soon if I'm going to buy some wheels. Thanks for your help--Andy

I heard HRE's were banned too, then there was a recent thread in tire and wheel section and i think it was Jon B who said HRE's are not banned. But I believe they only allow race wheels to run race tires, street wheels have to have street tires.
But your best bet is to talk directly to Viper days staff for correct answers.

They allowed me to run HRE C-22's with PS2's last year at Mid Ohio...haven't heard of any changes since then.

Why don't you check their web site? This way there is no speculation. If it is not stated you can either email Courtney or Tom Sessions the Tech Master. They would give you the information that you are in search of.

Yea, I have. Just haven't got word back from them yet, so I figured maybe some of you may know for sure, or if Courtney, Skip, or Tom got here they might chime in...

John Purner upgraded his 3-piece CCW a couple years ago and I believe it is allowed.

It would be a shame not to allow Purner's since he has the best service of any wheel manufacturer on the planet. And considering Vipers are not a mass market it says a lot that he has been so good to us for so many years.

I've had cracked Forgelines and cracked Purners. Because of the great service and a great wheel I'm staying with Purner.

HREs are not banned and never were. Some versions have rare probs w/ slicks.
CCWs are not banned and never were, but several old versions had problems, NO new 1 pc CCW has ever had a prob.

SEARCH THIS PLEASE... the ugly HRE rumor persists (fueled in part by a disgruntled import custiomer here) and is NOT true.

If you call me Ill give you the FACTS (and I have some new 19" Forgelines MSRP $5200 for $3500 !!!}

Jon is correct as usual. Contact him for more info and for the best prices on wheels and tires for Viper.

HRE's are not banned. CCW's are not banned. You do need to pay attention to your wheels as they do wear out over time, like most things, and replace them or have them checked by the manufacturer every few years. Not many of us do that.

Also, you need to be careful not to run slicks or other very sticky tires on street wheels at the track. Normally, street wheels are OK with street tires.

I've had very good luck with Forgelines and slicks along other sticky tires at the track. I have run HRE track wheels and SSR comps without issues.

I don't know of anyone running I-Forged at the track, so I'd check with them and read their written warranty. If there is an exclusion for track or racing use, stay away from them for track use.
