Just saw your thread, sorry for the double post...but if this was real then I would say the buyer got around a 5k-8k discount and I think we may see it back on ebay being sold for a profit if a dealer bought it.

Buying a car from Florida over the internet is a gamble at best. "if" the car is legit, then the buyer got a steal. I would just consider the price diffence a "risk" cost.

I got lucky with mine. I bought mine blind from Florida, had it shipped to me in VA by a friend of mine, and it was near perfect. Paid $38k, had 29-k miles on it, and the only real issue is a sagging driver side door, which I intend to fix soon. Everything else looks awesome.

Off topic...but related. My neighbor's brother just traded his 02 R/T-10 with under 10K for a BMW-X5 and got $43K for trade. He thinks he got a great deal. Married his fourth wife and she wanted the X5...go figure. Sometimes age doesn't bring maturity...but he can afford what he wants on both fronts I guess.

Not a great buy. A good buy, but not great. $40,400 is about what these are going for now. I don't see this car ever going for more than $44,000.
Also, why did it need a new clutch at 17k miles??

Re: The 97 B\W on Ebay has returned

The dealer is looking to make 5k on this Viper they paid 40k for...I need to get into the car dealer business

Actually, Thats not that much profit, and Dealers have big overhead. They probably paid $850-$1000 for transport costs, and they are leaving a little haggle room at $44,800 Im sure.. Lets say they sell it for $44,000-$1000 shipping costs-$40100 purchase price. Thats only $2900 profit, or about 6%. I was in the car busines, trust me, it ain't that great...

I was wondering about the clutch also. I would think if taken care of a clutch should last a lot longer than that. A lot of Vipers live rough lives.

It's going to need a new set of tires right out of the gate - they are currently mis-matched front to rear, and side to side on the rears. I wonder why they'd only replace one of the rear tires instead of the pair?

Maybe for a well-used, no history car that needs some work, but a clean B/W GTS with low miles, documentation, and no stories is going to bring much more than $40,400.

Mine was replaced at 10K miles along with having to have the tranny rebuilt thanks to the previous owner who managed to ruin them both in that short of a time.
