What are people getting for totalled vipers? I hear all of these horror stories about minor damage causing a total... wondering if that's because of low "total" amounts or because the salvage value + cost of parts is over the totaling amount.

Anyone recently know of or have a total? What was the model, year and mileage? Can you typical buy a "like car" for the amounts?

Had an accident in October .... State Farm Insurance
Value of a 94 RT/10 under 10k miles was around ~21000
They total if repairs are 70% to 75%, so $14,700 to $16,000 or so
Cost of a new Gen 1 hood = $14,500
So if you need to replace the hood, you go used or total the vehicle

Yup. I crashed.

Worked with the insurance company all week. They totalled it, which is just shocking, the damage appears REALLY LIGHT.

I have Liberty Mutual, and I feel like they stepped up after some discussions and two times telling them "that's not enough to replace it". Very good to work with.

Totalled 2000 GTS, Steel Grey Metallic. 14,500 Miles.

RIP.

Looking for a very low mile 2002 GTS or a 2006 Coupe with < 15000 miles... Will need to get a good deal on either, but I have cash in hand if anyone is having a fire sale.

If the damage isn't 'too bad' you can sometimes argue with them enough that they agree to fix the car and not total it out. It's not a fun process, though. In one case, someone I know got into an accident with an older (but in perfect condition) BMW 7 series and since the value was deemed low compared to the repair costs, the insurance company just wanted to write her a check and be done with it. She argued that she couldn't replace the car with a like car for what they were going to give her, and she demanded that they fix it. Long story short, they ended up fixing it.

I got 45,600. I think that's fair. Not awesome, but fair (includes anticipated tax, title, etc)

I would give them a couple thousand and retain the car. You can then either sale partsor repair the car, and it will not have a salvage title.(I do not believe) It does not even look that bad. I would give you a couple grand for it!

If they paid him out, it would have a salvage title

You are correct....in a perfect world.

It should..........but its hard to "BRAND" the title if the owner has it in his possesion:headbang:

You might pick up a accident or "minor damage" reported by law enforcement on carfax but it'll still have 100% clean title.
