I live and work in LA near the 57 freeway. My business partner lives in Phoenix and was in LA today. It was the first time he has seen my Viper, as I purchased it recently. He has a WRX STI (300HP) and is always raving to me on the phone how great it is. He is always bad mouthing the viper, it's no good in the wet, there is too much heat coming through the fire wall, etc; he seems to know them all. Anyhow tonight I ran him up to Ontario airport for his flight home. It was his first ride in a snake. We went up FWY 60 and exited at Central to cut through to the airport. There is a long straight with no one much around so I took of at the lights keeping a gentle controlled wheelspin till I hit second, then I floored it and we started to go sideways, and I pushed it through to the bottom of third, then backed off. He was REALLY impressed, and even more so when I told him that I had not really hammered it. Anyhow by the time we arrived at the airport he was talking about getting a HP upgrade done to the WRX, but I suspect it won't be long before he trades his rice for some snake. Stay tuned for updates....

That ricer probably gets a new engine every second run.
You can get a toaster oven to do that if you modify it enough.
By the way, how did you get the video of my mates WRX????

Hurtlestreet: I take it every owner of a japan car is a ricer? I own a 95 viper, a 93 vr4 and a few others. The TT would spank it and still get 26mpg... 538awhp. The STI would rip apart a viper on an autocross course as well.

The Viper is no gods gift. an 8.0 making 400hp+ isnt that great. In fact its not good at all. Dont get me wrong I still love mine. Im thinking about trading for the new z06 becuse its a better car.

So hit the road ricer. You must not know how to drive your Viper or handle the torque or you would be able to handle most other cars on the autocross. I guess a modified vr4 with 538rwhp would out run a gen1 viper if it is stock. Why not compare a modified viper to your modified rice??? I'm sure their are plenty of Vipers on this board that will spank your vr4.

Well the WRX STi is a great car. Just look at it's price performance of 0-60 in 4.8s for under 35K. Can any stock car beat that? And it has a great legacy in WRC racing. Oh did I mention that it seats 5 and can be driven in the snow too. LOL.

In my opinion, the WRX STi looks like a festering blister, ready to pop. It doesn't matter to me how fast or slow it is, even if it spanks my Viper, because its just plain double-bagger fugly. One man's opinion, of course. You can strap a rocket to a Yugo, and beat any car in the 1/4 mile, or 1 mile, and when you are done, its still just an ugly old Yugo, and in the end, no one cares. Ugly cars never amount to anything. Timeless designs endure, and end up in automotive museums. All the other garbage ends up being crushed and sold for scrap.

On a more postive note, credit is due to Subaru for the engineering, and efficiency of design. If they would wrap their mechanicals in seductive skin, they could hit one outta the park!

I have a friend that has a 10 second Javelin! Take that VR4!! :p

Also, I have seen a SRT4 spank WRXs more than once. Stock vs Stock!

A few mods from Mopar Performance puts you at $25k, and it will rip a WRX up!! Go Dodge!! :usa:

Vr4 are crap! who cares if it has 538awhp if it weighs 4000lbs. The only advantage it has is off the line and that's it. How come you don't see anymore vr-4 at import drag events?

I liked my VR4, but it was one heavy ****, couldn't corner very well because of the weight, kind of spendy on the upgrades once you got past about 400hp at the engine and the trannies were too weak and non-repairable, but other than that it was pretty nice and was a great all weather daily driver for up here in the Pacific NW and I wish I still had it.

2Manytoys,
should we call your VR4 a "classicly designed asian thoroughbred". I think not, it's a ricer! You should take your posts to Ricer.com or the vette site with your new found mates. You are trying to sell bibles in Mecca on this site.
As to the viper being no god's gift, I find mine fine, and I was road racing saloon cars in Australia when you mama was looking after your toilet issues. Perhaps you need some instruction? Also, if the Viper is not the ultimate US car, please let me know what you think is? I find it very strange that people put their own country down, as a few seem to do here.
Let me know when you intend to sell your viper, I might buy it, if I can figure out a way to get the cooked rice smell out.

Dude I don't own a vr4 re-read my post above. Maybe your directing this response to someone else. But I do have a built and blown GTS that has more power and torque than a handful of ricers combined. :D
I do own multiple Bibles but I don't sell them I read them.
I've never been to Mecca.
I don't have toliet nor need wiping instructions.
the only rice I own is BMW 750IL v-12 and BMW X-5 4.6is
But I do own a 62,64,66 corvette, f-250 Harley truck, RoadKing Harley, and Most of all a BADAZZ Yellow GTS built by Underground Racing.
And finally I support GEORGE W. BUSH. Dude I'm as American as I can be.

btw my Viper is not for sale :D

Do you really know him? If so, we might have met. Ali and I hang out a lot, though I've been away on business for the past 5 months. If you ever went to the track to watch him race and you saw a red RT/10 or a Final Edition GTS, I was there.

That is who my comments were directed at.
I know that you supported what I had stated.
Once again sorry for the typo.

No problem I figured you got us mixed up. Anyway, I don't hate ricer cars I appreciate all cars. But I don't like ******* statements like jtvr4 made. Their are many of us Viper owners who could and would put the hurt on his vr4. It kills me when someone tries to compare a modified car to a stock car and talk about how it will spank it. With enough money you can modify anything and make it fast. :usa:

OMG is that funny! AND, I couldn't agree more. Someday when the few "survivor" Vipers that are left occasionally show up at an auto auction and go for $100k+, I bet you won't hear: "Oh, well, you could buy a 20xx ricer xyz put this and that on it and spank that old Viper" The Gen I and II Vipers are classics in there own time. Beautiful, radical, pure American muscle. Heck, we're even starting to see Viper kit cars pop up on Ebay from time to time. How many production cars have look alike kits? Not many.

Wow, a bunch of ***holes. Thought I was on a mustang forum for a min. Jeez its like I hurt some of your ego's. So when you go to bars I bet the first thing you say is "hey, baby I drive a viper."

As for 500 whp vr4 they run low 11's high 10's. You'd understand that if your head wasnt shoved so far up your a**. as for my vette comment. Yes the new z06 will **** the [******] out of a 95 viper. Care to explain how im wrong?? Id love to hear it.

This is the internet I could say I run 10's and 11's. Yet I dont know, never ran it.

As for the wieght mine is 3620 full tank of gas. Stop reading the door stickers, that shows the max weight it can support.

Ive got to go out and get my all American viper tattoo on my a** so I can hang with you guys...Then we can talk about how the viper is gods gift, and pat each others a**. If anyone owns anything else we can club them. Everyone knows that an 8.0 with 400hp is great engineering at its finest.

td05 manifolds- $1700
AEM with equip- $1534
evo III 16g's- $950
Tuning- $880
exhaust- $947
headwork- $731
Fuel- $488
misc- $300
------------------------------
$7530=538awhp. Simple math. Its only at 24psi. I can likely run 28 with no problem. Im not sure why any thinks the getrag cant handle over 400hp. Maybe they enjoy making things up. Its about the same as the supra. The only weak link is the transpher case. Which has been addressed with upgrades. I dont use NOS, im sure I could its cheap. I could get over 800crank without any internal mods. Everything is forged from the factory but the pistons. Seeing how nobody has cracked a piston due to to much power I fail to see any problems in the future.

I relize the Viper is a better drag car. Never did I say otherwise.

As for the 4k in mods. Why is it every shop I look at its over 5-6k for a 500whp package.

What a bunch of tools.

What a bunch of tools.

Let's see now. You joined this forum a few days ago to call everyone tools and assholes and let us know how slow your Viper is compared to your rice rocket. Who's the tool?

Lot's of people here really do have Vipers (unlike you, I suspect) as well as other cars and are truly qualified to comment upon the differences. My daily driver is a WRX and it's a sweet little grocery getter, but, puhleeesse, stop with the comparisons between real power and a turbocharged buzz bomb. AWD isn't a panacea nor does it mean it will win in AX.

24-28 PSI? "She can't take much more of this, Cap'n! She's gonna blow!!"

Then "im sure I could" get 100000000000000000 hp on my viper
if I talk like a ricer.

Typical ricer talk

could be
should be
would be
autta have

Thats all I hear these days.

dyno sheets please, no bs please

PROOF IS IN THE PUDDING.
TAKE A LOOK AGAIN SEE THAT 906.2 # THATS A THING CALLED TORQUE I KNOW RICERS DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT IS......
6400viper_d_no_bull_dyno_sheet_674-med.jpg

I showed you mine b/c its real and not made up in my mind, where is yours? Or is that a should be or could be or would be#

I have never seen any ricer dyno sheets its urban legend.

JTVR4, I think your $ figure is a little low. You don't even have upgraded intercoolers? Fuel systems are that cheap? Just the injectors for my old Supra were way more than that. 28 psi on stock internals? I find it hard to believe that you could run that for a long period of time before going kaboom! 800hp with stock internals? Show me a good number of VR4's that have done that reliably (Supras yes, VR4's ????). I just don't think the VR4 is a good platform for overall performance, never has and never will be. With all of the VR4's out there, how come I don't see ANY competing with Supras or RX7's for either hp, drag times, or anything else for that matter?

Anyone ever hear the saying: "the best horsepower is easy horsepower". What could be simpler and easier than a big *** 8 ltr pushrod. One of the things I love about my Viper (this is the Viper forum right? Yes, good) is it's simplicity. The last thing I wanted in my "fun" car was something so tightly wound that I felt like it would pop at any given moment. What I really wanted was a 427 Cobra, a real one. But at $400k I'm not sure I'd ever let it out of the garage. The Viper is the reincarnation of that car. Not for everyone, but for those who understand the simplicity of the car and its place in this very complicated world we live, it's just what the Dr. ordered.

Re: Rice, My wifes Lexus we just sold was an outstanding car. I'd buy another in a heartbeat. I drive a ***. SUV to work every day. Love the looks of the S2000. But to come on a Viper forum and start immediately slamming the headliner is just plain ignorant.
