Actually, the best feeling I ever had in a car occurred when I was in high school. I can not remember her name, however.

Sorry guys, I am afraid I might be partially to blame here. I have waited (& waited, & waited, ....you get the picture) to get one of these beasts. I knew as soon as I got one, the prices would drop. Well, a couple of months ago, I was finally able to get the perfect Viper that I had waited for. Call it coincidence if you want, but I knew it would probably happen...
The only thing, I am like many other owners that have posted on this topic in that I am not too worried about the prices at this time (or anytime in the near future) due to not planning on parting with this beauty! But, I did want to chime in & apologize to those that are currently trying to part with their's.
Good luck!!

I see the same comments on the Porsche boards about declining prices.

Interesting I also noted some Supra bashing also on the Porsche site. I was wondering where the Supra agitators had gone. I think there probably are only about 2 or 3 people that travel from web board to the web board that merely mention the word Supra and it gets people all agitated.

I think most enthusiast cars are following the typical pattern of

20% drop off lot
10-15% per year thereafter.

70K Viper
Off lot=56K
1 year=51K
2 year=46K
3 year=41K

Most cars keep falling, but Vipers may hold stable.

I discussed this with my brother. He's a drive a car into the ground person, and only worries about the initial cost.

How'd you like to be the guy that has his new Ferrari spanked by a $30k Viper? Thaqt's gotta feel good

. The Viper is a hell of a value at MSRP, at half it's that much better and it lets real car guys get their hands on them instead of the bucks up posers that are scared to get on a race track and use 'em the way they were intended. A GTS with the $30k depreciation it lost put back under the hood is a 1000h.p. rocket sled like no other. I've had a couple of tough years but now I'm shopping again and the current prices make it possible. Quit whining and drive!

the reason i started the post was (not to whine) but the ridiculous prices that supras are being bought and sold for since they stopped production and since the fast and furios flick.

we as owners now do dictate the prices of our first and second generation snake and that was my point. i also plan to keep my viper for a long time.

but with the prices falling so fast and people selling so cheap, all the people buying ricers, camaro, vette and so on... will and can have a viper. not so exclusive anymore, huh?

Looking over the investments I have made over the last two years, the value of the Viper has held up much better than the value of the stocks and mutual funds I bought.

And the dividend is pure driving pleasure.

What prices are the Supras getting?

One thing to keep in mind. These so-called ricers show up at the machine shop and say they want 35 lbs of boost and a 300 shot of NOX and "Here's $20,000. If you need more money, let me know and I'll bring more." Then you have the old school geezer complaining about $100 in his $900 shop bill to rebuild his small block Chevy.

My guess is that they value mods (do modded Supras bring a premium?)

While I don't know if the F&F crowd is unique, it is clear that most modded cars suffer a loss in value.

However, a meticulously modded car that super performs may be another thing no matter what the marque.

One thing about most ricers, their cars are mundane. Actually sleepers. No, actually loads in their stock form. So they have no intrinsic value - something a Viper or Muscle Car or Corvette will always have.

I sure would not want to invest money in F&F Supras long term.
