Yet Another Alarm Problem

I've searched and searched and all I come up with is the hood switch. I'm going to check that, but before I do, I wanted to ask some questions, because it acts like more than just a random trip.

This is an 06 Coupe that I'm having problems with.
It has now happened to me three times, so I don't think it is a fluke.
Every time it has happened, I have just stopped somewhere and shut the motor off.
The alarm starts going off and I can't get it to stop for 5 minutes or more. Honestly, I don't know what stops it because by the time I get it to stop I'm ready to push the car off a cliff and I'm trying everything all at once.
Pushing the unlock button on the key fob doesn't shut it off, at least not immediately.
I can put the key in the ignition and start the car. (The alarm should disable this ability)
Pushing the panic button just blows the horn continuously and it goes back to the normal alarm sounding when I push panic again.

Additionally, the overhead lights stay on and won't shut off unless I shut them off with the multifunction lamp control. They stay on after the doors, hood and liftgate are shut and the car is locked with the alarm armed.

I don't have a clue what could be causing this???? Could it be bad battery, Body Control Module, or what????

First you can use the ignition key cylinder on the outside of the drivers door, under the drivers side mirror to shut the alarm off.

the system looks at the following:

vehicle doors, hood, trunk and ignition action for unauthorized operation

It is possible to have a bad BCM turning the alarm on for no reason

What you might want to try is to arm the alarm. (after 15 seconds and without opening anything) pull slightly on both doors, hood and trunk. For example, If you pull on the hood and the alarm goes off I would look at the related switch

OK, I'll definitely check that. Would any of the sensors set the alarm off if it was NOT armed, or is there some way I could accidentally be arming the system when shutting the engine off?

I have an 09. It decided to start going off whenever it wanted to. It turned out it was the horn pad. The dealer turned off the alarm and I am waiting for the new airbag/horn pad to show up.

My 2010 had a horn problem. The horn would go off by itself quite frequently, a new air bag/horn pad fixed the problem.

OP was the horn pad your issue? I have a five week old gen V with 325 miles that likes to wake me up in the middle of the nite even if she's unarmed in the garage.

What was your diagnosis & solution? Mine I'm told might be a sensor but still unsure

Man i would be besides myself if this was happening in a brand new car, or any car for that matter...

+1 on the hood switch issue. Happened intermittingly just as you describe. Mounted a small rubber washer to the hood to ensure switch plunger is depressed properly. Problem solved, 2 years and counting.
