I read from the Edmund Insideline Comparison Review that:

"First gear is good for 62 mph and 2nd will take you all the way to 90. So unrelenting is the Viper's acceleration that keeping it pinned will push the Coupe to 200 mph."

I'd like to ask everyone how long you stay on the 1st gear when you're driving the Viper, and up to what speed. Do you actually stay on the 1st gear even when getting from STOP and onto the highway? :slomo:Thanks.

I thought I saw somewhere (maybe that supercar shootout between a Viper and a ZR1 with Paul Tracey)that the Viper needed to shift to second before 60 while the ZR1 didn't. Or did I just make that up? :dunno:

3'rd for sure. cruising on the twisty back roads in the countryside and just leave it in 3'rd. What a blast. With the 3.55 gears, 1'st is used up way too fast.

I love 3rd gear, I can take off from a dead start or go 100+ thru an entire lap on a roadcourse!

I have probably spent $25k in mods and have never put the skipshift on, I never see the light haha.

Gen IV's reach 60 plus in 1st, a few more with the venon controller that gives 250 more revs.

2nd gear is great to feel the power, current favorite, downshift to 3rd gear in the freeway at 80+ mph gets a gen IV to 4500, then hammer it to the redline.

4th gear on the dyno gets the car to 160 plus, great to watch the numbers on the screen
