Does anyone remember a Michigan based Stars/Stripes/Statue Libery paint job...

Does anyone remember a Michigan based Stars/Stripes/Statue Libery paint job on a Gen I Viper ? Primary color of hood was GTS Blue with a large Statue of Liberty on the hood. The rear half had red and white curving ("flowing") stripes as on our flag. Large white stars were scattered on sides of...

Sound System & Horn not operational?

You need to check the hood and hatch switches. A tech with a wiTECH pod could be a big help. If you find that the switches are OK, you might want to think about the horn pad...particularly since it does not seem work when you push the button. The horn going off randomly required the replacement...

    Valet Mode

Curious to know if you have checked the clutch fluid reservoir. Last year I got a similar call...car had been sitting for a couple of years...brake pads allegedly stuck on rotors. P.S. No such thing as "valet mode" on your Viper.

    Squealing from serpentine belt

Real_Maverick, you are correct in that the Gen I P/S pulley is metal. Some keep it and just replace the bracket while some replace both as SneakyPete13 did. On Gen II's, one should always replace both...before either OEM piece breaks. P.S. please note that the 1996 R/T 10 (Gen 1.5 ) has the...

    Squealing from serpentine belt

Agree with replacing the belt as well. I have done this before, and if the old belt is grossly intact, put it in the car as a spare.

    Squealing from serpentine belt

Squeal is not normal with properly installed/aligned billet P/S pulley and bracket. I would look at tensioner, then idler pulley as possible source.

    Viper Showdown event in Indy

As I posted elsewhere... "us Old Dudes here in Indiana are really looking forward to this event !! I think the folks who became Viper owners after the demise of Viper Days have no idea what a great group of people attended, raced, or participated in some way. Nor do they have any clue as to the...

    AC needs recharging every year?

Also check the Schrader valve at the high and low pressure ports for a leak. This is easily done with the old spit test like we used on bicycle tires. If the valve leaks it will cause the spit (or soap film if you prefer) to bubble. If a leak is present, tighten the valve stem with the...

    Battery

Sorry...Absorbent Glass Mat...where the acid is contained in "sponges" (mats) that separate the lead plates...as opposed to a flooded lead acid battery where the fluid flows freely within the case. Your CTEK MXS 5.0 charger should be fine charging an AGM battery...noting that you need to...

    Battery

I should point out that in general, the AGM batteries mentioned above have another advantage in that they do not leak. So, once one "reconditions" the battery tray ( removing the corrosion, priming and painting it), the tray should stay clean over time. A down side to these batteries is cost...

    Battery

Well, responses look a little thin. I use Interstate AGM batteries in our Gen I and II Vipers...noting that I like their MTZ-78 best (4 year fully returnable warranty). In general, with proper intermittent charging, an AGM battery usually lasts at least twice as long as a flooded lead-acid...
