There's no way of telling what your issue is without knowing the code. Do yourself a favor and purchase an OBD II code reader. You can do a GOOGLE search of ODB II readers and get tons of brands/models. I use an Actron CP9125 since I only need to find out and then erase codes. They get a lot...
I just finished perusing the 'radar mirror' site. A viper would lose the laser detection of the Valentine1 when the main V1 unit is concealed. I noticed that yours isn't installed in a viper.
I think Steve is probably a good guy...he's just got his hands into too many items and not enough time and support. He would probably like to have the highest quality of viper aftermarket parts, but IMO, he's spread too thin.

I don't have step by step. It was a PITA since I didn't have a professional spring compressor tool. It was a pain removing the shocks, was a small pain swapping the caps and wasn't too bad re-installing them though. It can definitely be done in an afternoon if you have the right tools.
