    Nice quote from Ralph

+1 glad to see Ralph and Sergio on the money for the Viper's future. I watched the National Geograhic DVD on the supercar factories. It was great but I could tell the Viper plant was a little lacking in tooling and procedures as compared to the others although the labor enthusiasm couldn't...

2013 Gen5 Speculation... What We Know... What We Think ?

Quality is just icing on the cake? At this price point, I very much doubt it. We want it all - outstanding performance and quality. Right, Ralph? It has been admirable how tight the info has been kept but not anymore! We're sick of it now! How about throwing us a few teasers and quit the...

Key Fob, $160 from dealer? Options?

I have three for my 05! I had two that came with the car, lost one of them within a day, buy a spare for $150, and then find the one that was lost in my garage. Dealer wouldn't take back the new fob being an electrical item! So, I can send you one but you will have to program it. Just PM me...

High flow cats on stock car?

Hmmm.......Purplesnake, you're right I needed to provide more details: At the time, I had the Kooks headers with the metal 3 in cats. No drone when the stock w/crossovers mufflers were in place but the cooling I was looking for wasn't reduced enough. I removed the crossovers utilizing the 08...

Flower Mound teen dies after flipping Dodge Viper this weekend

Most of the over 70 (or even 65) group probably quit driving when they get the message after an incident or two. Note, I said most not all (unfortunately). Young folks obviously aren't going to quit driving, even after wrecks.

    Who purchased an extended warranty?

I bought a 5 yr Max Care for my 05 when new ( 2 extra yrs). I reallly didn't use it; I tried to before it expired but the dealer said the regulator wasn't broken. it was making noise and it wasn't always consistent. The service mgr said the difference between extended warranty and the factory...

Throttle Body upgrade - X-Metal vs BBK

I've had the Xmetal and now have the Fastman: I didn't have any problems with the Xmetal but I followed the directions to the letter, especially the blade alignment. After a couple of years I removed it and had Fastman restore the linkage back to the original TB. I prefer the even finish of...

    Heads up: Possible Scam

I've had that same scam twice when mine was up for sale in both Craigslist and the classifieds here.

If you go with KWs or Motons, the adapter/spacers aren't needed?

    Rockville fatality in Viper

Very unfortunate - I just took mine out with the 6 yr old runcraps in freezing weather but dry just to keep it from sitting too long. I drove very carefully (real smooth and no go pedal joy) in very light traffic and it worked out OK.

Next gen Viper discussed in AutoWeek...scary!!

Yes, traction control is a good thing to have for the street as long as it's not intrusive (can be turned off completely). Of course it's not a substitute for a good driving school. All wheel drive is neat but adds too much weight. Good point about the nannies - worthless without seat belts...

    Gen V and Pirelli

I disagree about the motorcycle tires. Their Diablo Corsas are among the best (or were). I have a set on my Honda 1000RR and think they're pretty dam good. They also work pretty dam good on the Ducati's, among the finest sportbikes in the world.

Just a great photo of my Viper and its little brother

Great pic - I'd love to get a Challenger next to my Viper in my garage!

Driving across country in winter Do it or dont do it? need advice

OK, if you insist on living in CA.......I've been there and done the cross-country drives along the southern routes. If it's possible to avoid winter and do it later, do it. A cross-country drive can be memorable but a nightmare in the wrong weather that you are not prepared for. Definitely...

    Opinions please.

Walked 12 miles to school, eh? You're as bad as the grandparents that claim they walked 10 miles in the snow to get to school! You have to look at the total cost of ownership, not just the purchase price. Gas, insurance, maintenance (substantially more than the C5), etc. If you're that...

    800HP V10 crate engine, 650HP bolt-on kit for Gen III's, announced today

The Gen III upgrade gave me the impression that it can increase by 150 hp without a cam upgrade which I find very hard to believe.

I sure hope this is true "New Dodge Viper To Be Revealed Next Month"

Yeah, it would work well with their "Imported from Detroit" ad campaign. It was a true import at Nurburgring and if it can run under 7:12 as its genes suggest, it will be the best factory performance street car period.

Should the next Vert be a convertable hardtop?

Nah, I like the simple non-power top. But better cupholders, cruise control, and auto option would be nice! :D
