Look at the calendar... saw this posted on another Viper board...
Wikipedia says the GTS-R was unveiled at the Pebble Beach concourse in 1995 so 2045 would be the 50th. That what it is? Any other odd things in any of the pics?
Hold up... have you ever driven a proper dual-clutch paddle-shifted gearbox? The word "automatic" should never be uttered in the same discussion with one. The technology is completely different as are the performance capabilities of the two. The dual-clutch trans is far superior in every single...
Again... don't dislike the Gen-II car at all, but in comparison certain aspects of it look bulbous vs. the crisper/more taught Gen-V car. Looking at them from the driver's front 3/4 they look nearly identical from the behind the front wheel back...
1. Viper has no visible hood lines; clamshell.
2. Viper's fender creases flow inside of the healights and into the fascia framing the lamps vs. the Corvette's fender lines that terminate in the headlights.
3. Viper's mouth is trapezoidal vs. the Corvette mouth being rectangular.
4. Viper lacks...
No... I'm not combining the two. Just discussing them both. The front bumper, wheels and lights really date the car, but they can all be fixed. The essence of the car is timeless. I'm not huge on interior amenities, but being able to comfortably fit in the car and drive it is paramount. If I...
The one thing I don't agree with is that the Gen-II GTS is "visual perfection". It was amazing for the time and I love the car, but many aspects of it look silly and dated by today's standards. Plus the interiors are garbage, their pedals suck, and they drive like crap. Sure they're fast and...
Seriously... the front of the car looks like a snake's head... an actual snake's head. I know it was said above, but really look at the pics especially the headlights and you'll see a snake's eyes staring at you.
I've owned four C5s.... it's very non-Corvette
1. Headlights are completely different shapes and in different positions
2. Fogs vs. no fogs
3. Viper is far curvier and more rounded
4. Viper's side with the intersecting curves and huge side cove is completely different
I agree... I'm confused here. Was that a "launch video" or was it something made for some kind of presentation? I would think the marketing guys would do much much better if it were really a full on launch video.
Take Ferrari's video for the F12 for example...
Clarkson will make cracks about the stupid pushrods, huge engine, and horrid truck sounding exhaust, but then he'll drive the **** out of it and say all kinds of nice things. Like he always does.
SRT/Dodge just **** all over GM in the interior department. I'm a Corvette owner and I know GM is working hard to give the C7 a proper interior, but I doubt it will be anywhere close to something like this.
This... with the car being so heavily influenced by the Gen-II car why not offer classic GTS Blue with white stripes? I guess they're keeping it up their sleeves for future updates.
Because they're a gimmick. The engine has to be able to move some with the intake staying put. If they really gave any power the engineers would use them.
Aluminum has a fatigue life, is more difficult to repair, and putting a roll cage in an aluminum chassis vehicle is a royal PITA. I'll take...
