Anyone catch this? What's the significance of May 2045?

Look at the calendar... saw this posted on another Viper board... Wikipedia says the GTS-R was unveiled at the Pebble Beach concourse in 1995 so 2045 would be the 50th. That what it is? Any other odd things in any of the pics?

Tranny ..I was wishing for F1 Paddel Style Shifter

Hold up... have you ever driven a proper dual-clutch paddle-shifted gearbox? The word "automatic" should never be uttered in the same discussion with one. The technology is completely different as are the performance capabilities of the two. The dual-clutch trans is far superior in every single...

Succinct thoughts on the Gen V from all perspectives

Again... don't dislike the Gen-II car at all, but in comparison certain aspects of it look bulbous vs. the crisper/more taught Gen-V car. Looking at them from the driver's front 3/4 they look nearly identical from the behind the front wheel back...

If SRT really listened to what we wanted....

    1. Viper has no visible hood lines; clamshell. 2. Viper's fender creases flow inside of the healights and into the fascia framing the lamps vs. the Corvette's fender lines that terminate in the headlights. 3. Viper's mouth is trapezoidal vs. the Corvette mouth being rectangular. 4. Viper lacks...

Succinct thoughts on the Gen V from all perspectives

No... I'm not combining the two. Just discussing them both. The front bumper, wheels and lights really date the car, but they can all be fixed. The essence of the car is timeless. I'm not huge on interior amenities, but being able to comfortably fit in the car and drive it is paramount. If I...

Succinct thoughts on the Gen V from all perspectives

The one thing I don't agree with is that the Gen-II GTS is "visual perfection". It was amazing for the time and I love the car, but many aspects of it look silly and dated by today's standards. Plus the interiors are garbage, their pedals suck, and they drive like crap. Sure they're fast and...

    Plastic engine covers look terrible..

^ Looking at the last two I don't understand why they didn't keep it the same with the Gen-V... very confusing.

Awesome SRT informational videos! SRT I applaud you in every way!

Not sure how you can criticize the car much after watching those.

So, was Hennessey a design consultant on the front end?

Yes... clearly the idea of an integrated splitter was Hennessey's idea as he holds US patent no. 45995949-69.33494 on it.

If SRT really listened to what we wanted....

Seriously... the front of the car looks like a snake's head... an actual snake's head. I know it was said above, but really look at the pics especially the headlights and you'll see a snake's eyes staring at you.

Pics of the base model? Where?

Love the video. Anyone questioning the design of the car should watch it.

2013 SRT Viper GTS-R image - this one says it all

Ralph has an awesome job. How cool is it to imagine that car in your head and then bring it into reality.

If SRT really listened to what we wanted....

Here's your dead on front picture... != The new car is clearly an evolution of the Gen-II car...

If SRT really listened to what we wanted....

I've owned four C5s.... it's very non-Corvette 1. Headlights are completely different shapes and in different positions 2. Fogs vs. no fogs 3. Viper is far curvier and more rounded 4. Viper's side with the intersecting curves and huge side cove is completely different

If SRT really listened to what we wanted....

All you people saying "It looks like a Corvette" need to have your eyes checked... vs. and vs. and vs.

Why is the launch video so tame and upscale? No burnout or drifting?

I agree... I'm confused here. Was that a "launch video" or was it something made for some kind of presentation? I would think the marketing guys would do much much better if it were really a full on launch video. Take Ferrari's video for the F12 for example...

What Will Clarkson and Tanner Say About the Gen V ?

Clarkson will make cracks about the stupid pushrods, huge engine, and horrid truck sounding exhaust, but then he'll drive the **** out of it and say all kinds of nice things. Like he always does.

    New "Cognac" interior from Gala

SRT/Dodge just **** all over GM in the interior department. I'm a Corvette owner and I know GM is working hard to give the C7 a proper interior, but I doubt it will be anywhere close to something like this.

Any photos of the other exterior colors yet?

This... with the car being so heavily influenced by the Gen-II car why not offer classic GTS Blue with white stripes? I guess they're keeping it up their sleeves for future updates.

    New Viper is huge letdown

Because they're a gimmick. The engine has to be able to move some with the intake staying put. If they really gave any power the engineers would use them. Aluminum has a fatigue life, is more difficult to repair, and putting a roll cage in an aluminum chassis vehicle is a royal PITA. I'll take...

    Plastic engine covers look terrible..

If that's all it's for then yeah... really stupid idea. However, good to know it can be easily fixed with the GEN-IV covers.

Tranny ..I was wishing for F1 Paddel Style Shifter

The ALMS race car has a paddle shifted sequential as do all modern GT race cars. The gearbox itself runs north of $30,000.

And now...leaked Gen 5 hood molds?

Yep... built at Riley Technologies in NC.

Gen V Debut Compared to the Gen III Debut ?

I remember this... the GTS-R concept was truly stunning. Then the actual GEN-III car came out and it was like huh?
