This was my only complaint about the new car. The coil covers suck... took a page right out of the C5/C6 playbook with this one. It confuses me becuase the GEN-IV motor has coil packs, but still looks sexy with red valve covers and clean red coilpack covers that integrate very nicely with the...
On Corvetteforum a member who works for Riley Technologies (Who SRT Motorsports partnered with) said it will be 8.0 liters breathing through two 28mm restricted inlets.
That only matters to magazine racers who like to compare dongs at car shows.
But it's still a stupid Mustang. If cheap straight line speed is your game why bother with either car? Just buy an old fox body and build it...
Yep... but you have no idea what this car will do modded. Plus I'll take...
LOLOL... I'm an instructor with NASA and get to teach many of the noobs with these modern horsepower laden monsters. I can tell you that most people have no business driving a car with much more than 300 horsepower on track. Whenever I have a Viper or Corvette student who's a novice I make them...
1. The ACR-X is a race car that doesn't have to meet any emissions restrictions. They can run headers, no cats, and a cam that would never pass an emissions test.
2. The ZR1 is supercharged. I'd be willing to bed the LS9 and associated cooling system is heavier than the Viper's motor and...
The articles say the "regular" SRT Viler (non-GTS) will have the "old style" hood with 6-vents and 5-spoke wheels. Haven't found a picture of it yet. Are there any floating around?
Thanks,
Brian
I don't understand why this is bugging some of you so much. You can make anything have power. However, you can't make a 3800lb Mustang with forward weight-bias have the driving characteristics of a car like the Viper or a Corvette.
The GTS-R is a race car only. It is designed to compete in ALMS GT2. The street car will be offered in two variants: SRT Viper and SRT Viper GTS. The GTS will be the heavier optioned of the two much like the C6 ZR1 base model vs. the loaded up one with the 3ZR option package.
Well said! A few years ago the Viper was dead and gone. Now it's back in a big way. It's beautiful, more capable, and they have a race variant ready to go!!! That's huge!!!
Hey buddy! Hope all is well. I'm going to yap mostly. Getting married in 3 weeks (no money) and what little I do have I blow on the race track...

Need more lights for night racing at Le Mans etc. Also the front brake ducts are already integrated into the grill which is a higher pressure area and will achieve better air flow then out at the sides of the fascia.
I actually found something I don't like. They covered the engine up with plastic like the Corvettes. Why not leave it looking like the Gen IV motor w/o the plastic engine covers?
You guys are hilarious. The car is beautiful and menacing, with a proper interior, and a 640 horse (probably underrated) naturally aspirated engine, but you complain because it's not enough? Only magazine racers care about power ratings. This thing will be a rocket with that much torque...
