July 4th Video - Show your Colors VCA

Thank you for taking the time to make this video, I'm forwarding to all my co-workers that are deployed right now. Every time I see a flag waving in the breeze it makes me smile, but I also remember those that sacrificed so much that went before me so I could be free.

    Clogged High Flow Cat

    The 1996 GTS doesn't need O2 Sims...correct?

Thank you everyone for the information, I'll start there.

    Clogged High Flow Cat

I have a 1996 GTS, and the side sill on the driver's side has bubbled/blistered in the area where the high flow cat is located. It's a Random Tech, and it's been on the car since I got it 7 years ago. After driving it for a while it's very hot to the touch, it this an indication of a clogged cat?

    improving radio reception?

Is the radio that glowing orange thing that displays the time? I thought it looked too fancy to be a clock.

Any one know what the heck this is???

Texas is bad enough. If I had to deploy to where it's 130 degrees and then live in Phoenix when I got home, I'd either move or get out of the military...and then move. As far as the wiring harness, if the only difference between a GTS and RT/10 was a rear window defroster, I doubt they'd waste...

    window weather stripping

There are 3 screws holding in inner door stanchion in place, the nut holding the door opener, a plastic clip holding the electrical connection to the door opener (I used needle nose pliers to remove it), a Phillips head screw at the top of the window track and a cable that slides into the...

Going racing...where do I get stuff and what do I need??

The fluids in the car might only have 5300 miles, but considering that the last Gen II was built in 2002 your stock fluids are AT LEAST 10 years old. Racing is expensive because of the proper maintenance required for all the systems to function as if they were new. If this is your first time at...

    window weather stripping

I just replaced mine and it took all of 30 minutes. Two things to remember, the screw that's right above the Emergency Release Handle can fall down into the door, so use a magnetic screwdriver or put a piece of tape or a rag under it to catch it if it falls. The other thing is the nut that holds...

    AutoCross advice/tips?

Ride with as many people as possible (don't get upset if someone tells you no because the extra weight hurts when you're racing a clock) so you get familiar with the course. Know your limit, and don't drive over your head. You can't tell a car what to do, you have to ask it (don't force the...

Has anyone installed the Snake Oyl Door Hinge Repair Kit?

I should have just bought a new door hinge. I know it would have been more, but it's worth it to me not to have to take it off and adjust it 4 or 5 times and still not have it work properly.

Has anyone installed the Snake Oyl Door Hinge Repair Kit?

I received and installed the Snake Oyl door hinge repair kit, and all it does is push the door closed (I thought it was supposed to keep it opened). The instructions are terrible, and a picture or explanation of how it's supposed to look after the install would be great, but all it says is...

Some wheel well detailing: 2002 Dodge Viper GTS

Looks great. A little tip to keeping the rear wheel well (say that real fast 10 times) shiney is to spray some WD-40 on an old rag and wipe it on the plastic part. It also makes it easier to clean the next time because the gobble-dee-goop has a harder time sticking to WD-40.

If you're looking for a good price, call JonB; that's where I got mine.

What are your Top 3 Most Memorable ments in your Viper?

    1. I got orders to Nellis AFB, so I was pulling the car (painted like an American flag) on the back of an open trailer from Little Rock to Vegas and passed a bunch of military trucks doing convoy training for Iraq. As I was passing the first truck with soldiers in the back, one of them gestured...

    Stanchion weatherstrip

What type of grease do you use? The weatherstip on the passenger's side went missing last week, I hadn't thought about looking inside the door.

Shelby himself said "Horsepower sells cars...torque wins races."

    Uhaul Style Auto Transport?

I took mine from Little Rock to Vegas on one and now my windshield looks like it was sandblasted (I believe a new one is $936.00...which is more than it would have cost to have it hauled there in an enclosed trailer..HINT HINT!), and the front bumper cover took a good bit of rock chips too...

    Wanted: Autoart Viper

Ebay's a good start because they've been out of production for a long time. I got all of mine on there, but expect to pay around $100 for one. Once you buy one, you'll probably end up with all of them becasue they are very nicely detailed. I lucked out and found one of the 24 that was given to...

WTB: 1996-2000 Viper GTS (gotta have stripes)

I've had mine for 7 years, and the only thing that's gone out it was the clutch slave cylinder and a front wheel hub. The motors are over engineered with mild compression and forged internals. The fine people that designed the car knew how it was going to be driven, and made it extremely...

Vette owners are not a friendly bunch...

I became hooked with the Viper Club in Vegas. It was a great bunch of guys, and I couldn't wait until the next event. Then I got stationed in Abilnene and there's only 1 other Viper in town, but he rarely drives it. I was at a parts store and when I went back out to the parking lot there was a...

Looking for a good driving school. Recomendations?

The Spring Mountain track is about an hour from Vegas, and it is a VERY nice facility. There is pretty much every imaginable turn/corner there (including off camber negative turn so you feel like you're driving on the outside of a basketball)...

    FOR SALE: 1997 GTS, Blue/White, $27,000

Exactly, why would a tire dealer sell the tires that just came off the truck first when they have 3 dozen that've been sitting in the corne r for over a year? If you seriously track your car, you want the freshest, softest tires you can get because it might be the diference between first place...

    FOR SALE: 1997 GTS, Blue/White, $27,000

There was a guy in the club in Vegas that had a 1996 GTS that was still on the original tires back in 2007. He didn't drive the car hard, and there was a laundry list of people that wanted to buy it from him. I don't know how many miles are on it now, but it could have 100K miles and people...

    FOR SALE: 1997 GTS, Blue/White, $27,000

The reason for changing to soft, fresh rubber after 7,000 miles is because when you're racing against a clock it makes a difference. I remeber hearing people say that fresh tires were good for 2 seconds at Spring Mountain, and that's why guys were dropping $4K in tires for the weekend. I've had...
