Time to let this rare car go, 1st Mamba!

Yes Bill I knew that, you probably forgot who I am, You sent me some cool stuff for my 99 GTS silver with blue stripes, which I bought from Bob and he shipped it out to me and a few other cars at different times, I kept in touch with you when you were under the weather, I was one of the first...

    Anyone familiar with this interior?

Bonkers your probably right, but I love looking at my Viper in the garage, it shares space with a Shelby GT 500 and a Hemi Challenger , and when anyone comes over its the Viper that gets all the attention, yes I hang with an older crowd , but I also think one day Vipers will be sought after. And...

1992 Viper ignition problems and wiring schematics

If the car has not been messed with the wiring should be OK, are you sure the coil pack is good, I have seen many new coil packs that are bad, sometimes you have to try a known good pack to be sure, other wise you will be pulling your hair out. If the crank sensor was bad there would be no spark...

How many fires caused by power steering fluid cap flying off?????

If you are going to drive the car like that with a rag for the cap, better bring a fire extinguisher, and if you are trying to blow up the car, put one rag in the gas tank too.

    a couple of newbie questions

By the RPMs that you stated you are ether in the wrong gear or someone swapped out the stock 3:08 rear and put in 4:10s or what ever, in 6th gear the car will do 70 at idle and in 5th maybe 1600 rpm or so at 70 if stock. Take every ones advice here and be care full, a Viper is not like any other...

Gen 1 owners ... Please report

Yea the gen 1s rock, my first Viper a 95 yellow RT10 was so cool, where ever I went it was like the circus was in town, there will never be another car that made such a big impact on the automotive scene. My gen 2 is a 99, that to was an awesome time for Vipers, not to leave any one out all...

Need some help with my clutch please

Whats baffling to me is if you say it gets softer and softer the longer you drive, and you believe its the master or slave, it would grind trying to shift gears, because it would not release the clutch fully and apparently it shifts fine. One common trait of a bad clutch plate is the hotter it...

Need some help with my clutch please

If the clutch pedal is soft, and the slave and master cylinder is good, and the car shifts fine it is most likely the pressure plate, a weak pressure plate will have a soft clutch and a hi performance plate will be harder to press in.

    Overheating 97 GTS

Good advice guys, I had a shop for 40 years, I can't tell you how many times Vipers came in over heating with owners thinking they needed pumps or T stats and turned out to be air in the system, anyway I am not saying you don't have an issue, just saying check that first. Viper cooling systems...

Before you start going crazy with stuff, make sure the cooling system is full and has no air pockets

    Difference gen2 & gen3 camshaft

Having a shop for 40 years I have learned a few things, one of them is with parts, a company will list the coverage as wide as possible, when you look at after market cams even with the same specs for some reason gen 2 and gen 3 have different part numbers, so that tells me they are most likely...

Looking for Suggestions...Transmission Fluid, Tran Filter and Thermostat

When something go's wrong with an engine its usually the nut behind the wheel or a problem in the engine not a name brand quality oil, when some of the newer Viper engines were eating up bearings, I do not think it was the oil that caused it, I heard it was poor engine cleaning prep before assembly.

Looking for Suggestions...Transmission Fluid, Tran Filter and Thermostat

I agree with MoparMap, as long as you flush out the old stuff, your fine with what ever you like,if you read the containers they are all good for aluminum, and on top of that most Viper owners take great care of there cars, I flush and fill at least each year and use Prestone in my 95 and 99...

Looking for Suggestions...Transmission Fluid, Tran Filter and Thermostat

It all makes sense now, the FBI was knocking on my door the other day, I did not know Prestone coolant is prohibited in my 95 and 99 Vipers. So far everything is good in both cars, but I have to admit I did not know Prestone is not good.:)

Soon to be a new Viper owner with a short person question??

pjsid you will be fine, the seat moves up pretty far and the pedals adjust to. In my opinion the car is more suited for people under 6' . The 97 GTS is one cool car enjoy it.

1996 GTS on E-Bay with only 3,800 Miles, $59.9K, Good Deal?

Remember in the 70s you could not give away a used Corvette from the 60s just wait and see what will happen to the price of Vipers, they made thousands of Corvettes each year, not so many Vipers. In years to come you can look back and say I had one of those cars and only paid 60k for it, no one...
