You don't need any special tools. Put your car on jack stands and pull one of your wheels off. Look at the bottom of the spring and you will see two "nuts" that are threaded around the shock body and holding your spring up. The bottom one is a "jam nut" and is there to assure the one on top...
Re: Comp Coupes At Road America
Well, Adel and Dave took the first steps in introducing the Comp Coupe to the World Challenge Series. There will be at least 5 additional Comp Coupes racing in the World Challenge race at Road America next weekend.
With the likes of Michael and Jimmy McCann...
There will be at least 6 Vipers in the World Challenge race at Road America next weekend. We are the preview race for the CART race on Sunday afternoon, August 3.
If you are interested in attending, you can check out the schedule at www.world-challenge.com. There are 4 practice...
Re: What\'s a Viper racecar worth?
There are extremely well-prepared VRL GT-1 cars for sale in the $55,000 - $95,000 range. The original cost on most of these cars was $100,000 - $150,000. These cars have significant documented race history within the VRL and are very close to a Comp Coupe in...
Here are some possibilities assuming you don't want to change your stock suspension, meaning you don't have adjustable shocks, springs, or ride heights (bummer). It would be nice if you could simply drop the front ride height or raise the rear ride height.
More toe-out can the front will...
Re: Comp Coupe
Hemidaytna is correct. A few of the more time-consuming items are:
Check torque on everything. Check all plumbing lines for leaks and potential chafing. You will find the proper torque specifications in the service manual. You'll need both the CC and the SRT-10 manuals to...
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the mythical $100,000 Competition Coupe is just that..a myth. The first series of buyers were faced with the following costs:
Base price $100,000
VRL flywheel 600
Air jacks 3,600
Transport from...
Toronto... on your Dynamic shocks, for both rebound and bump adjustments, turning the dial clockwise will stiffen the setting and counterclockwise will soften the setting. There are + (stiffer) and - (softer) indicators near the dials to help remind you.
You should have received a shock manual...
I never owned a DC vehicle until I purchased my first Viper in 1996.
As a result of my first Viper purchase and the people I have met within the VCA, I have made the following subsequent purchases of brand new DC vehicles:
(1)99 RT-10 (2) 99 ACR (3)99 Dodge Ram 2500 (4)00 Dodge Ram 2500...
Keep talking and maybe Viper Days will add some more events out west.
The only track in the 4 states that you mention worthy of a Viper Days event would be PPIR (Pikes Peak) south of Denver.
Unfortunately, it is an infield course that incorporates a NASCAR oval.
Suitable tracks in California...
I have a 2001 ACR with the Dynamic shocks. I've spent considerable time making adjustments to the shocks to understand how it affects handling. I have mine set so that it is still relatively firm on both the front and rear rebound settings to reduce body roll, yet relatively soft on the bump...
I had over 18,000 miles of road racing experience in a well-prepared highly modified Gen II GTS (VRL GT-1 class) on race tires. I also had a 20 minute track experience in a factory stock SRT-10 on street tires.
The SRT-10 has far superior balance, handling, forgiveability, braking, etc...
The adaptor fitting for the pressure bleed system is a Viper part designated in the service manual and can be purchased from your Dodge dealer. He can get you the pressure tank also.
Fat Albert does the best Viper paint and body work I've ever seen. He will only do it the right way, there's no in-between. If you want it done quickly or inexpensive, go somewhere else. If you're patient, want it done right, and you're willing to pay for the best work, then he's the man.
Tony, thank you once again for posting my photos.
Fat Albert did a marvelous job on the car, especially considering the condition in which the panels were received. His shop has a total of 345 hours into body panel, preparation and painting. It's a shame this car doesn't go straight to a...
If you want to road race your Viper, the answer is probably neither. Consider keeping your engine completely stock, the same as required in the VRL. A good set of headers and K&N filters is all you need. You can expect better engine reliability and a good chance of continued warranty...
Re: Building a
The Bob Bondurant School in Phoenix is selling all of their race-prepared Mustangs since they have changed over to Corvettes. They have some cars that will fit within your budget. They are used, but very well-prepared.
I don't know your intended use, but here's my experience. I've owned 5 different traliers ranging from 20' to 40' in length. I've tried economy trailer budgets and luxury trailer budgets. They have all functioned exclusively to carry my Viper back and forth across the country to track events...
By the way, Most venues require that if you have facial hair you need to wear a full balacalava with cutouts only for the eyes. The other style has a single large cutout that doesn't protect as much of your face and definitely won't protect the moustache area.
Get the balacalava whether you have facial hair or not. Combined with a full face shield on the helmet, it is intended to protect your face from fire. It's cheap insurance! A secondary benefit is that the balacalava will help absorb sweat and other facial/ body fluids. Otherwise, you can...
This subject has been discussed on the board ad nauseum for the last few years. There is a huge difference in the structural integrity of the Porsche rotor which is cast with ventilating holes in them versus other rotors which are cast as solid usints, then cross-drilled. Nobody should have...
Re: Frank Parise\'s Comp Coupe delivery
Unless they have changed their policy, you can only order the car in black, red, or white. With stripes, the factory paint option is approximately $7,000, depending on the color chosen.
